Apple Bumps Up RAM of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max from 6GB

A report has revealed the RAM capacity of the newly launched iPhones including iPhone 15, 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple concluded its annual Apple Event for the year 2023 at the Apple Wonderlust Event on September 12. The Cupertino giant announced the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with USB Type-C port. The significant highlight of the event was Apple switching to a USB Type C port for iPhones.

Interestingly, Apple introduced the Lightning port for iPhones over a decade ago on September 12, 2012. The Cupertino giant also announced the latest A17 Pro chipsets powering the Pro and Pro Max smartphones. Apple didn’t officially reveal its smartphones’ RAM and Battery capacity at the launch event.

Apple used to reveal only the battery backup results at the event. A report from MacRumors has revealed the RAM capacity of the newly launched iPhone 15 series smartphones. The report confirms that Apple has increased the battery capacity of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones.


An X user with user ID “aaronp613,” also a software code researcher, confirmed the RAM details of the smartphone after the release of Xcode 15 Release Candidate. The Xcode confirms that the Pro and Pro Max smartphones feature 8GB of RAM. The previous iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were equipped with 6GB of RAM.

The vanilla iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will continue to sport 6GB of RAM, similar to its predecessor iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The Xcode revealed the RAM of previous generation iPhones, which confirmed the accuracy rate of the code. The increase in RAM for the Pro Max smartphones will improve performance.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max: Pricing and Availability

Apple priced the base variant of 15 Pro with 128GB storage at Rs 1,34,900 and Rs 1,44,900 for the 256GB variant. The higher 512GB and 1TB storage variants are priced at Rs 1,64,900 and Rs 1,84,900, respectively. Apple has also bumped up the base storage variant of 15 Pro Max to 256GB. The Cupertino giant has priced the 256GB variant at Rs 1,59,900.

The company launched the higher variants with 512GB and 1TB storage at whooping Rs 1,79,900 and Rs 1,99,900. The pricing for the Pro series smartphones is higher due to the 20% import taxes. Apple is yet to begin the assembling of Pro series smartphones in India. The newly launched iPhone 15 series smartphones will be available to pre-book from September 15.

The company adds that the open sale of all iPhones will begin on September 22. Apple has also announced that HDFC will offer a Rs 6,000 instant discount on 15 Pro series smartphones. HDFC offers instant discounts on the vanilla iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14, 14 Plus, and iPhone 13. Apple has announced significant discounts on older iPhones, including iPhone 14, 14 Plus, and iPhone 13, by Rs 10,000 on each variant.
