Apple has recently just released three new iPhones with iPhone XR priced the lowest among the trio. The handset packs impressive specifications and is still more expensive than most of the premium grade devices. Here, we have compared the latest iPhone XR with Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, and Google Pixel 2 XL.

The 64GB storage variant iPhone XR has been priced at Rs. 76,900, while the 128GB storage model is priced at Rs. 81,900. As for the 256GB storage model, it will come with a price ticket of Rs. 91,900.

The Galaxy S9 Plus comes in two storage variants- 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM + 256GB onboard storage, priced at Rs. 64,900 and Rs. 72,920, respectively.

The Google Pixel 2 XL is also available in two variants- 64GB and 128GB. The 64GB variant is now available online for as low as Rs.61,999, while the 128GB variant is priced at Rs.71,999.

The iPhone XR comes with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD with a 1792 x 828 resolution and a notch at the top, like that on iPhone X. The smartphone features an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a 79% screen-to-body ratio. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, on the other hand, features a slightly larger 6.2-inch Super AMOLED screen with 2960 × 1440 pixels resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Smallest among the three is the Google Pixel 2XL with 6-inch P-OLED display, 1440 x 2880 Quad HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

In terms of performance, the Apple processors have always been a step ahead of the Android processors. The iPhone XR comes with Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset with 4-core graphics Apple GPU. In comparison, the Galaxy S9 Plus is powered by an by an octa-core Exynos 9810 chipset, combined with Mali-G72 MP18 for handling the graphics. Google Pixel 2 XL, on the other hand, runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset with Adreno 540 GPU. The performance department is clearly owned by the Apple smartphone.

In the imaging department, the iPhone XR features a single 12MP rear camera with a f/1.8 aperture. The camera features include Portrait Lighting, OIS, Portrait mode with advanced bokeh and depth control. On the front, there is a 7MP unit with a f/2.2 aperture.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus features a 12MP + 12MP dual-camera set up. The primary sensor is paired with a dual-aperture lens (f/1.5 and f/2.4). The camera on the front is an 8MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture.

The  Google smartphone features a single 12.2 MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8, while the front-facing camera is an 8 MP snapper with f/2.4 aperture.

The iPhone XR is equipped with a non-removable Li-Ion battery that provides a talk time of up to 25 hours, as claimed by the company. However, battery drain over the time has always been an issue with Apple devices. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is fuelled by a 3500mAh battery, while the Google Pixel 2 is backed by a 3520 mAh battery. Samsung devices also struggle with the battery performance issues.

On the software front, the iPhone XR runs on iOS 12, while the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and the Google Pixel 2 XL are both upgradable to the latest Android 9.0 Pie. The connectivity options on all three smartphones have a lot of in common.

While the iPhone XR packs some really impressive specifications with a price tag according to Apple standards, the Google Pixel 2 XL is a comparable option too. However, taking all the factors into consideration, we declare the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus as our winner.
