Apple MacBook Air Tipped to Feature MagSafe Charging, Multiple Colour Options, Full Sized Function Keys, Launch Expected Mid 2022

Let’s take a look at the 2022 MacBook Air specifications, features and other details leaked.

Apple recently launched the new MacBook Pro in India. The latest Apple laptop comes with an all-new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips under the hood. Not just the internals, Apple has also made changes to the design by bringing in more ports and introducing a notch at the top of the display. This is likely the last Apple laptop launch of the year. The rumour mill, therefore, has shifted its focus to the next one, which is likely the MacBook Air 2022. Tipster Dylan, who has a good record of getting his leaks related to Apple products right, has revealed some key details of the upcoming 2022 MacBook Air. Let’s take a look at the 2022 MacBook Air specifications, features and other details leaked.

Apple MacBook Air specs

Apple is rumoured to launch the new MacBook Air in the middle of 2022, according to Dylan. This suggests that the new Air laptop could launch at WWDC 2022. Apple typically hosts its developer event in June every year and we can expect the company to unveil its entry-level MacBook at the event. Dylan further notes that Apple might simply call the laptop “MacBook” and not “MacBook Air”.

He further notes that the 2022 MacBook Air could borrow some of the Pro laptop’s features. These include a mini-LED display, MagSafe charging, a full-size keyboard with function keys, a 1080p webcam, etc. What the Air model will not get is an SD card slot, an HDMI port and a fan under the hood to keep things cool. Apple will also keep its ProMotion 120Hz display tech exclusive to the MacBook Pro, according to the leaker.

In terms of design, the Air 2022 will get white bezels around the display. Tipster Jon Prosser had made a similar claim in the past. Dylan corroborates Prosser’s previous leak and states that the upcoming Air MacBook will have multiple colour options, much like the iMac. We can expect it to launch in Yellow, Orange, Blue, Purple, Silver, etc. The 2022 MacBook Air will not have a wedge-shaped design and is said to get slightly thinner.

The most notable upgrade will be in the performance unit. Apple is said to introduce a new M2 chip on the MacBook Air next year. Details about the next chip remain unknown. We can expect it to match or add slightly more power compared to the M1 Pro/ Max chips while offering better efficiency. More details could be leaked in the coming weeks.
