The new M3 MacBook Pro models come with the latest chipsets from the brand including the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. These processors are the first-ever laptop chipsets built using the 3nm fabrication process, which is an industry first. As such, the power efficiency is one of the biggest USPs of the new MacBook Pro models. Apple claims that these models can offer up to 22 hours of battery life on a single charge.

Moreover, they are equipped with the next-generation GPU, which marks the biggest-ever leap forward in Apple silicon. According to Apple, the new GPU comes with Dynamic Caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing (a first on MacBooks). Dynamic Caching ensures each task gets the exact amount of memory needed by using the local RAM in real-time. The hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing further improve the graphic rendering.

As for the processors themselves, Apple claims that the M3 family of processors have 30% and 50% faster performance cores and efficiency cores respectively compared to the first generation M1 chips. Additionally, they also have a 60% faster Neural Engine for faster AI-based tasks. There is also a new media engine with support for AV1 decode for a more efficient and high-quality video streaming experience. Apple is offering these processors with up to 128GB of unified memory.

The M3 chipset has an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU with up to 24GB of unified memory. On the other hand, the M3 Pro comes with a 12-core CPU and 18-core GPU with up to 36GB of unified memory. Lastly, the M3 Max is a top-of-the-line processor with a 16-core CPU and 40-core GPU with up to 128GB of unified memory. Apple claims that these new models are up to 60% faster than M1 MacBook Pro models.

All three M3 MacBook Pro models are equipped with a Liquid Retina Display measuring 14-inch or 16-inch depending on the variant. The display is 20% brighter in SDR with up to 600 nits of peak brightness. It offers up to 1,600 nits peak brightness and 1,000 nits sustained brightness in HDR. All three models are equipped with a 1080p camera, a three-mic array, and a six-speaker setup. In terms of connectivity, the new MacBook Pro comes with MagSafe, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, three USB-C Thunderbolt ports, and an HDMI port. Other features include a new Magic Keyboard and Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
