Asus ROG Ally Handheld Gaming Console Launch Officially Set for May 11

Asus, earlier this month, confirmed its first handheld gaming device – the Asus ROG Ally. The company has now confirmed that it will announce the Asus ROG Ally on May 11. In the upcoming event, the Taiwanese brand will reveal the specifications, pricing, and availability of the ROG Ally.

Asus took it to social media channels to make a formal announcement for the same. The launch teaser poster reveals that Roanne Sones – CVP, Head of XBox Hardware and Frank Azor, Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions, AMD will also be present at the unveiling. This confirms that Asus is collaborating with Microsoft and AMD for its first handheld gaming device.


Ahead of the launch, a micro-site has gone live on the Asus website but it doesn’t reveal anything in terms of the specifications. However, the specifications of the Asus ROG Ally have already been leaked last week. As per the leak, the Asus ROG Ally will be powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme processors.

The Asus ROG Ally will come paired with 512GB of SSD storage and 16 GB of DDR5 RAM. Users will also have the option to expand storage further with the help of a microSD card slot. It will feature a USB Type-C port and will feature support for 65W fast charging.

The Asus ROG Ally will feature a 7-inch display screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 500nits peak brightness. Asus’s first gaming handheld will be powered by Windows 11 and will be fully compatible with Steam, EA apps, Epic Games, and XBox game pass.

The Asus ROG Ally is tipped to sport a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which will also double as the power button. It will weigh around 608 grams and will feature support for Dolby Atmos audio. Asus is tipped to launch a host of accessories for its first handheld gaming device. This includes an Asus ROG Raikiri Pro Controller, Asus ROG Cetra Earbuds (TWS), and a Travel Case.

The Asus ROG Ally is rumoured to be priced around $650 and $700 in North America, which translates to around Rs 55,000. The Asus ROG Ally will compete against the Steam Deck.
