For those who don’t know, the Asus ROG Phone 2 is focused towards gaming, and a few highlights of the smartphone include a 120Hz AMOLED display and a massive, 6000mAh battery. The Asus ROG Phone 2 has already been launched, and it is currently on sale in a few countries around the globe. And six days from now, the ROG Phone 2 will launch in India as well. Anyway, here are the specifications of the smartphone.
Asus ROG Phone 2 Specifications
The Asus ROG Phone 2 is the first smartphone in the world to feature an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This, in theory, should offer a smoother gaming experience, as well as, smoother scrolling throughout the UI. The display has 108% DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
The smartphone features Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC, which is currently one of the most powerful chipsets in the Android market. Paired to the chipset is 12GB of DDR4 RAM. Internationally, the device is available in three storage options – 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. In India, however, the brand could launch only the 256GB variant to keep the device cost low. If you remember, the first-generation ROG Phone had a gamer-inspired theme, which wasn’t taken well by many users. Therefore, Asus has put a stock Android theme this time around. And speaking of which, the ROG Phone 2 has Android 9 Pie OS.
Asus hasn’t forgotten about the imaging either. The device comes with a 48MP + 13MP dual-camera setup at the rear. As you might have guessed, the 48MP sensor is the primary camera, and the 13MP sensor is an ultrawide camera. This is the same camera setup that is in the Asus 6Z that launched in India a few months ago. Anyway, the rear camera can record 4K videos at 60 frames per second along with EIS. The ROG Phone 2 also has an improved front-facing camera compared to the one in its predecessor – a 24MP unit with an f/2.0 aperture.
Another highlight feature of the Asus ROG Phone 2 is that the device packs a massive, 6000mAh battery. I can’t think of any other smartphone that has a battery capacity as such. The battery also supports 30W fast charging over USB PD protocol. The ROG Phone 2 also comes with two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, an in-display fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, and Bluetooth v5.0.
