Update (18/06/2020, 08:00 PM IST):
Digital Chat Station now reveals that the Asus ZF that we had spotted on Geekbench, which we are now speculating to be the Zenfone 7, has the Snapdragon 865+ SoC rather than the Snapdragon 865. And it is indeed evident from its benchmark scores. The Snapdragon 865 scores 900-915 points in the single-core test of Geekbench. The Asus ZF, however, has scored 973 points in the same test, suggesting that it is has a more powerful processor than the Snapdragon 865, which could most probably be the Snapdragon 865+. Leaks so far suggest that the Snapdragon 865+ has a 3.09/3.10GHz clock frequency.

A Weibo account that goes by Feiwei, has revealed a hands-on video of the ROG Phone 3 (the post and the video have now been deleted). This video reconfirms all the specs that we came to know through the hands-on and promotional images of the smartphone and through its TENAA listing. It should also be noted that this is the first hands-on video of the ROG Phone 3 to date.
The original story follows…
It was only a couple of days ago that the TENAA listing of the Asus’ upcoming gaming-centric smartphone, the ROG Phone 3, went live, revealing images of the smartphone from all angles and also its key specifications. Today we get to know more about the ROG Phone 3 as we now have its hands-on image along with the promotional poster of the device, courtesy of a Weibo account that goes by Digital Chat Station. Let us have a look at what do these images reveal about the device.
Asus ROG Phone 3 hands-on image leaked
The hands-on image of the ROG Phone 3 leaked by DCS shows the back panel of the device. As you can see in the image, the ROG Phone 3 seems to have a large footprint and a hefty appearance, just like that of the ROG Phone 2. The image reveals that the ROG Phone 3 has a triple-camera setup at the rear. If you look closely, the phone has a ‘64MP Quad Bayer’ tag below the rear camera setup, revealing that the main camera at the rear will have 64MP resolution and that it will use quad-bayer technology to produce 16MP images. Beside the camera sensor, there are two LED flash modules.
The hand-on image shows that the ROG Phone 3 will have a glass panel at the rear with a funky, gamer-inspired pattern, and an ROG logo with RGB lighting. The back panel also has the ‘Tencent Games’ tag on it, suggesting that this particular model could be a Tencent edition.
Asus ROG Phone 3 leaked promotional images show that it has 3.5mm audio jack
Coming to the promotional image of the ROG Phone 3, it reveals a bunch of details regarding the smartphone. The first thing that will notice though is that the ROG Phone 3 retains a 3.5mm audio jack, which is a huge relief for gamers. The 3.5mm audio jack is located at the bottom portion of the device, just beside the USB Type-C port. The second thing that you’ll notice from the photo is that the ROG Phone 3 has an indent on the left-hand side of the device, which could be for the additional USB Type-C ports on the device (covered with a rubber cap), like that we have seen in the ROG Phone 2.
The other aspects of the ROG Phone 3 that the promotional image reveals that the phone has a display with traditional bezels, front-firing stereo speakers with an orange-colored grill and that the phone has a volume button mounted to its right side.
The ROG Phone 3 might ship with a 30W charger, considering that the phone supports 30W fast charging, as revealed by 3C certification of the smartphone (screenshot attached below). This 3C certification reconfirms that the ROG Phone 3 will have 5G connectivity, making the ROG Phone 3 the first smartphone from the brand to feature 5G cellular network support.
Asus Zenfone 7 listed on Geekbench
The ROG Phone 3 isn’t the only Asus phone that has leaked today. We have now come across a listing of an unannounced Asus smartphone, bearing the model number ‘ZF,’ on Geekbench. Going by the model number, we think that this is the upcoming Asus Zenfone 7. Although, we aren’t sure about it.
The Geekbench listing shows that the Asus ZF, which we are now speculating to be the Zenfone 7, has an 8-core Qualcomm processor with a base frequency of 1.8GHz. The motherboard of the phone is listed as ‘Kona,’ which suggests that the smartphone has Snapdragon 865 SoC. The listing also shows that the phone has 16GB of RAM and Android 10 operating system. The device has scored 973 points in the single-core test and 3,346 points in the multi-core test.
