It was just a few months ago that Xiaomi announced and subsequently launched its gaming-centric smartphone the Black Shark 2 in China. The Black Shark 2, as evident by its name, succeeds the ‘original’ Black Shark from 2018 that only saw a limited release in key markets across the world. India, however, was not included in that list. In 2019, though, things have changed, and the company has decided to launch the BlackShark 2 in the country. The Black Shark 2 would be sold exclusively via Flipkart in India. The popular e-commerce website recently released a teaser which revealed that the Black Shark 2 is on its way to India very soon.

Black Shark 2 appears on Flipkart teaser

While it is known that there is a Black Shark 2 event next week in India, both Flipkart and Black Shark had otherwise maintained silence as far as the launch of the phone is concerned. Even in the first of the latest reveal; the Black Shark 2 logo appears along with several other brands as a promotional poster for Flipkart’s new Flipkart Edge program for premium devices. A teaser released today, however, is clearer and more direct.

Let us now take a look at the spec sheet of the Black Shark 2.

Black Shark 2 specifications, features

Being a gaming-centric device, the Black Shark 2 comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC which also houses the powerful Adreno 640 GPU for graphics. In China, the phone is sold in multiple variants starting from a base 6GB RAM+ 128GB version, followed by an 8GB RAM + 128 GB version, a pricier 8GB RAM version with 256GB storage. The most expensive variant is the aforementioned  12GB+256gb variant. The Black Shark 2 gets a 6.39-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution. Like most modern smartphones, the tall display has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It supports the DCI-P3 color gamut and boasts of 430 nits of brightness as well.

The Black Shark 2 gets a dual camera setup at the rear starting with a primary 48-megapixel sensor mated to an f/1.8 lens. The secondary rear camera uses a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 telephoto lens that supports 2X lossless zoom. The rear camera setup also gets an LED flash for low light situations. At the front, the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 gets a single 20-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture.

All this potent hardware draw power from a large 4,000 mAh battery that also supports 27.5-watt Quick Charging technology.

ASUS Zenfone 6 also coming soon to Flipkart

Another device that is set to be sold exclusively via Flipkart is the Zenfone 6 from ASUS. This new handset was officially unveiled just last week in an event and is a worthy rival to the OnePlus 7 Series. This handset is also set to go on sale exclusively via Flipkart in the next few days. Like the OnePlus 7 Series, the Zenfone 6 also belongs to the highly popular affordable flagship segment that has seen fast-paced growth over the past few years.
