Taiwanese electronics brand ASUS is all set to unveil its flagship Zenfone 6 at a launch event in Spain on May 16. Quite a few leaks are pouring in for this device, albeit with sketchy sources and contradicting information. What we did know for sure until now, is that this would be ASUS’s flagship offering that would be powered by a Snapdragon chipset. Now, the phone maker has released a teaser image that confirms quite a few of the smartphones features and specifications. Furthermore, a cryptic comment from the Head of Global Marketing Operations at ASUS further sheds some light on what one should expect to find under the hood of the Zenfone 6.

Asus Zenfone 6 To Be Powered By A Snapdragon 855 And Feature a Headphone Jack

The latest teaser image for the Zenfone 6 from ASUS confirms that the phone will run on a Snapdragon 855 SoC. The image showcases a notification LED way at the top, almost as if it is embedded within the top bezel. The phone will also offer a 3.5mm headphone jack that seems to be placed beside a USB Type-C charging port and a rear firing loudspeaker. The smartphone is also shown to support a triple card tray that can hold two SIM cards and a MicroSD card simultaneously. On the right-hand side, just above the power button and volume rockers, the teaser diagram reveals the presence of a “Smart Key.” We expect this to be a reprogrammable key that could be used to launch certain apps with single or multiple presses.

Based on previous reports, it is believed that the Zenfone 6 will sport a bezel-less AMOLED screen. There is a good chance the phone will offer a pop-up selfie camera. Also, its Snapdragon 855 chipset is expected to be paired with 6GB and 8GB of RAM along with 128GB and 256GB of storage respectively

Zenfone 6 Could Get A 5000mAh Battery, 48MP Rear Camera

Marcel Campo, the Head of Global Marketing Operation at ASUS has been dropping secret messages on his Instagram posts in the form of Morse code for some time now. In one such post, first spotted by the folks over at AndroidPure, the Morse code translation obtained was as follows:

Ignoring the text, we are left with “855-4813-5000”. The clues here are pretty obvious, the 855 refers to a Snapdragon 855 SoC, and the 5000 at the end likely refers to a 5000mAh battery. The middle part presumable hints towards a 48MP and 13MP camera sensors, likely for the rear and front of the Zenfone 6 respectively.
