Asus Zenfone 6

Asus is rolling out a new update to the recently launched Zenfone 6 (ZS630KL) smartphone. The update comes bearing the version number 16.1210.1904.115. Unfortunately, Asus hasn’t revealed in which regions is the brand rolling out this update. That being said, this is most probably a global rollout that could be pushed to the devices in a phased manner.

The update brings with it many improvements, but the most important one is for the camera; the update improves the Super Night Mode and HDR+ Enhanced mode for better image quality. The update brings a few new features as well. However, the most interesting one is that now you can control the flip camera rotation with the volume rockers. Here is a complete changelog that is posted on Asus’ website.

1.    Camera Super Night Mode & HDR+ Enhanced mode (HDR++) performance Improvement on image processing speed and image quality

2.    Add volume key functions: to control the flip camera rotation; set the volume key as “Shutter, Zoom, Flip camera” in Asus Camera’s settings manually.

Asus Zenfone 6 To Launch in India Soon

The Asus Zenfone 6 is currently on sale in a few markets, but the device is yet to be launched in India. As we reported earlier, Asus India and Flipkart have put a poster of the Zenfone 6 on their website with a ‘Coming Soon’ tagline, confirming that the device will soon be launched in India. Asus hasn’t revealed the exact launch date of Zenfone 6 for India though. That being said, it could be launched in the first week of June. The device could go on sale exclusively on Flipkart. Once launched, the Zenfone 6 will compete with the likes of OnePlus 7 and the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom.

Asus Zenfone 6 Specifications

The Asus Zenfone is a rather interesting device, especially considering its pricing.

The device features a completely bezel-less and a notch-less display; it is a 6.4-inch IPS LCD with Full HD+ resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. To make the display completely bezel-less and notch-less, Asus had to put the front-facing camera elsewhere, and the brand decided to go with the flip camera design. Yes, the Asus Zenfone 6 has a camera that flips; it serves as both, the front, as well as, the rear-facing camera. The camera module has a 48MP primary camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. The camera setup can also record 4K60FPS videos.

Powering the Asus Zenfone 6 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Internationally, the device is available in three configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The device runs on Android 9 Pie operating system, and this time around, Asus has skipped the heavy custom theme over the base UI in favor of a stock Android look. What’s even more interesting about this device is that it comes with a massive, 5000mAh battery. Except the Nubia Red Magic 3, no other Snapdragon 855 powered smartphone has a battery this large. The Asus Zenfone 6 also a 3.5mm audio jack, and a traditional, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

All in all, the Zenfone 6 is an exciting device and a one that many Indian smartphone buyers are waiting to get their hands on.
