Asus Plans to Launch Zenfone 8 Series in India, But Launch Won’t Coincide With Global Due to COVID-19 Second Wave

ASUS is all set to launch the Zenfone 8 series on May 12th globally. This upcoming series is supposed to include three handsets – the ASUS Zenfone 8 Mini, Zenfone 8 Pro, and the Zenfone 8 Flip. While these devices are set to launch on May 12th globally, ASUS won’t be launching the Zenfone 8 series on May 12th in India. The company has confirmed that it has plans to launch the Zenfone 8 series in India, but considering that the country is battling the second COVID-19 wave, it has delayed the launch of the same. This information comes from ASUS Business Head Dinesh Sharma who has mentioned in his tweet that unless the current COVID situation in India improves, ASUS won’t be launching the Zenfone 8 lineup.

ASUS Zenfone 8 Specifications, Features

ASUS plans to launch the vanilla Zenfone 8 smartphone as the Zenfone 8 Mini. The specifications of this vanilla variant are already leaked earlier. If we go by the previous leak, the Zenfone 8 Mini is supposed to feature a 5.92-inch Full HD+ Samsung-made E4 AMOLED display. Under the hood, the device might be powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC. The phone is expected to measure at around 148 x 68.5 x 8.9mm and it could weigh 169 grams. Furthermore, the handset is supposed to ship with up to 16GB of RAM. The device might pack 256GB of internal storage. On the software front, the Zenfone 8 Mini is tipped to run Android 11 out of the box.

As far as the imaging aspect of the device goes, it is rumoured to feature a 64MP primary main camera, 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a macro sensor. For the selfies and video-calling, the device might sport a 12MP camera. Both the front and rear cameras are expected to offer Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) support. The whole package might draw power from a 4000mAh battery. The device is expected to offer 30W fast-charging support.
