
The Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is the smartphone maker’s latest budget offering which was launched in India just a few weeks ago. The Taiwanese company has reportedly sent out a press note to publications informing that the smartphone is going to receive a new OTA update. This update will contain October’s Security Patch for Android and should also bring about other improvements.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 October Security Patch OTA Update
The latest firmware version for the Zenfone Lite L1 is said to be WW_Phone-15.07.1810.18-20181019. According to Google’s Android Security Bulletin, the latest October security patch is designed to prevent attackers from executing “arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process.” Furthermore, Asus informs that the update will assist in improving the overall stability of the system.
At this time, however, Asus is releasing this update in batches. As such, it might take a while before you start seeing this OTA updating on your device. At the time of writing, our review unit of the Zenfone Lite L1 also hasn’t received this update. Regardless, it is reassuring to know that Asus is taking care of its entry-level smartphones right from the get-go.
ASUS Zenfone Lite L1 Specs
The Asus Zenfone Lite L1 sports a 5.45-inch IPS LCD panel which offers a 1440 x 720 pixels resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, and an 800:1 contrast ratio. While the device does come with noticeable bezels at the top and bottom, the screen-to-body ratio has been stretched up to 82 percent. Powering this phone is a rather old Snapdragon 430 SoC which came out in 2016. This chipset contains a quad-core CPU paired with the Adreno 505 GPU at. Despite the chipset being dated, the phone does run a fairly recent build of Android 8.0 Oreo with Zen UI 5 baked on top.
In the storage department, the Asus Zenfone Lite L1 comes with 16GB of memory paired with 2GB of RAM. Internal storage can be expanded up to 256GB with a microSD card. Furthermore, you get a non-hybrid SIM slot that allows you to use a microSD card + two SIM card configuration.
As for imaging, the Zenfone Lite L1 has been equipped with a 13MP camera at the rear which offers an f/2.0 aperture and is accompanied by an LED flash. At the front, this phone houses a 5MP selfie shooter with an f/2.4 lens. The selfie camera also gets an accompanying soft-light LED flash. Both these cameras offer Beauty, Portrait and HDR modes.
This budget device does not come with a fingerprint sensor. TO replace this functionality, Asus offers Face Unlock capabilities using the front camera. As for longevity, this phone is powered by a modest 3000mAh cell. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS with A-GPS, BDS, GLONASS, Bluetooth V4.0, VoLTE support.
