Asus just announced its latest budget smartphone, the Zenfone Max M2. The phone was launched alongside the more powerful Zenfone Max Pro M2. The Taiwanese company has seen plenty of success with its Max series. The predecessor Max Pro M1 was one of the best mid-range smartphones in India. The company has sold over 1 million Zenfone Max series phones in India. The Zenfone Max M2 will be competing against several phones in the segment, including the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro. In this post, we are going to tell you why the latest Asus smartphone is a better pick than the Redmi 6 Pro.
Better Value for Money
Both of these, the Asus Zenfone Max M2 and the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, are budget smartphones. Therefore, price is the most important factor here. While the Redmi 6 Pro starts at INR 10,990, the new Zenfone Max M2 gets a starting price of INR 9,999. Just like that, the phone is instantly a better choice. This is for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. Even if you choose the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant, the Max M2 is INR 1,000 cheaper. You get a large 4000mAh battery on both the Max M2 and the Redmi 6 Pro.
Larger 6.26-inch Display
The Zenfone Max M2 features a 6.26-inch HD+ display that supports 94 percent color gamut and 1500:1 contrast ratio. On the other hand, the Redmi 6 Pro has a smaller 5.84-inch LCD panel with FHD+ resolution and supports only 84 percent color gamut. Both phones feature a notch at the top, but the Max M2 has smaller bezels all around and looks much better. Overall, the display on the Asus smartphone is better and bigger.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC
Asus has equipped the new Zenfone Max M2 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC. This is a new and improved Snapdragon 600 series chipset. It is the successor to the SD 630 and is much more powerful than the Snapdragon 625. Both chipsets are manufactured using a 14nm process, but if you want better performance, then you will have to go for the Max M2 with the Snapdragon 632 processor. You will see improvement in gaming performance as well. Both devices come with similar RAM and storage configurations, maxing out at 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
The Asus Zenfone Max M2 has better and new camera sensors as well. The phone features a dual-rear camera setup with a primary 13MP Sony sensor, which is paired with a 2MP depth sensor. The 13MP sensor has an f/1.8 aperture, which is larger than the f/2.2 aperture found on the Redmi 6 Pro. You will be able to take better photographs, especially in low-light, thanks to this improvement. On the front, the Max M2 gets an 8MP sensor, whereas the Redmi 6 Pro only features a 5MP unit. The Max M2 also features several AI features that will improve photography.
Stock Android OS
If you prefer stock Android over forked versions, then the Asus Zenfone Max M2 is the phone for you. It comes with stock Android 8.1 Oreo and will also receive the Android 9.0 Pie update in February 2019. This means that the Max M2 will perform much better than the competition and also provide improved battery life. On the other hand, the Redmi 6 Pro runs on Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI 10 software. Xiaomi has also promised to provide the Android 9.0 Pie update for the phone. However, stock Android is always better, smoother and faster.
