Taiwanese PC hardware and smartphone manufacturer ASUS is soon expected to unveil the ZenFone Max Pro M2, a direct successor to the popular ZenFone Max Pro M1. Alongside the ZenFone Max Pro M2, the company may also debut the ZenFone Max M2, a slightly more affordable model with less impressive hardware specifications.

Key specifications of the two upcoming ASUS smartphones have now been leaked online, courtesy of leakster Roland Quandt. The leakster had recently claimed that the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will feature a triple-camera setup at the rear.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 Leaked Specifications

According to the leakster, ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 ZB631KL variant will feature a 6-inch display with Full HD+ resolution. The exact display resolution, however, has not been revealed yet. Even though the display size will remain the same, we expect ASUS to equip the ZenFone Max Pro M2 with a notched display, which should allow it to have a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor.

Moving on to performance, Quandt claims the ZB631KL variant will be powered by an octa-core 14nm Snapdragon 660 AIE processor under the hood, a decent upgrade over the Snapdragon 636 chipset that powers the ZenFone Max Pro M1.

In the memory department, ZB631KL will come in two configurations – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage.

As for optics, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 is said to feature a triple-camera setup at the rear, with the primary sensor being a 13MP unit.

While the ZB631KL variant is expected to be sold in a few Asian markets, ZB634KL will apparently be the ZenFone Max Pro M2 variant headed to India. Going by the above specifications, ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 will be a solid upgrade over the current model in nearly every area. Since the battery capacity has not been revealed, we will need to wait some more to find out if the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will be an improvement over its predecessor in terms of battery life as well.

As for software, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will probably be launched with the Android 9 Pie operating system out of the box.

ASUS ZenFone Max M2 Leaked Specs

In addition to the ZenFone Max Pro M2 ZB631KL variant, Quandt has also revealed the key specifications of the ZenFone Max M2 ZB633KL variant. The smartphone will feature a similar 6-inch Full HD+ resolution display as the ZenFone Max Pro M2.

Under the hood, however, it will run on a less powerful 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor instead of Snapdragon 660 AIE.

In the memory department, ZenFone Max M2 is tipped to be available in two configurations – 4GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.

In terms of optics, the ZenFone Max M2 will come with a dual-camera setup at the rear. Similar to the Pro version, the primary sensor will be a 13MP unit.

The India-bound variant of the ZenFone Max M2, according to Quandt, will be the ZB632KL.

The current ZenFone Max M1 sports a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and runs on an octa-core 28nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset under the hood.

It sports a single 13MP camera at the rear, featuring Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and an f/2.0 aperture. ASUS had launched the ZenFone Max M1 in India last month, so we are not quite sure if the ZenFone Max M2 will be a direct successor to it. Instead, ASUS may choose to sell the ZenFone Max M2 alongside the ZenFone Max M1.
