ASUS Indonesia had recently confirmed that it will be unveiling the ZenFone Max Pro M2 “gaming smartphone” at an event on December 11. It has now released a new ZenFone Max Pro M2 teaser image, which confirms the smartphone will indeed feature a triple-camera setup at the rear. The teaser image also confirms the presence of a notch at the top of the display. While we do not see any gaming-inspired design touches on the outside, ASUS Indonesia is teasing the ZenFone Max Pro M2 as a “next-generation gaming” smartphone.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 Official Teaser Confirms Triple Rear Cameras, Notched Display

Smartphone leakster Roland Quandt was the first to suggest that some variants of the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will sport a triple-camera setup at the rear. The official teaser released by ASUS Indonesia confirms that. While all the three camera sensors are not clearly visible in the image, you can still notice that the smartphone features three vertically-stacked rear-facing cameras. The teaser also confirms the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will sport a notch at the top. As you can see in the image above, the notch appears to be similar to the one on the ZenFone 5Z. Going by the Wi-Fi and battery icons seen in the image, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will run stock Android instead of ASUS’ custom Android skin.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 Rumored Specs

The ZenFone Max Pro M2 is rumored to come with a 6-inch IPS LCD display featuring 1080 x 2280 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a tall 19:9 aspect ratio. Thanks to the notch at the top, we expect the smartphone to offer an improved screen-to-body ratio compared to its predecessor. Under the hood, ASUS’ upcoming budget Android smartphone is expected to run on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE processor. The Snapdragon 660 AIE is manufactured on the same 14nm manufacturing process as the Snapdragon 636 powering the current ZenFone Max Pro M1 (review) but offers improved CPU as well as graphics performance. As suggested by the smartphone’s Play Console catalog listing, it will be available with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The base variant, however, could come equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. ASUS may even offer a 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant in some markets.

As for the imaging hardware, ZenFone Max Pro M2 is tipped to feature triple rear cameras with the primary sensor being a 13MP unit. We expect the smartphone to feature an improved selfie camera as well. In terms of battery life, the current ZenFone Max Pro M1 is among the most impressive budget Android smartphones on sale currently. We expect its successor to be equally impressive in the battery life department, although we don’t expect to see a significant increase in battery capacity.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 India Launch Date

ASUS India has not confirmed any plans of launching the ZenFone Max Pro M2 in India yet. While the ZenFone Max Pro M1 was launched in India before other markets, it appears the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will make its global debut in Indonesia. Since the ZenFone Max Pro M1 is extremely popular in India, we expect its successor to arrive in the country before the end of the year. The ZenFone Max Pro M2’s chief rival in India will be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, which is set to be launched in India later today.
