In April this year, ASUS launched the ZenFone Max Pro M1 budget Android smartphone in the Indian market. While the Taiwanese brand held a minuscule share of the Indian smartphone market last year, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 has helped boost its market share in the budget segment by a significant margin. ASUS sold over 1 million ZenFone Max Pro M1 units in just under six months. The Taiwanese PC hardware and smartphone maker is now expected to launch a successor to the ZenFone Max Pro M1 (review) in India soon. According to leakster Roland Quandt, the ZenFone Max Prom M2 is expected to launch “soon” with a triple-camera setup at the rear.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 to Feature Triple Rear Cameras?

In a new tweet, Roland Quandt has claimed that the upcoming ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 may launch “soon”. Going by previously leaked information, ZB634KL will be one of the multiple ZenFone Max Pro M2 variants. Quandt claims both the ZB634KL and ZB631KL variants of the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will sport a triple-camera setup at the rear. The other variants of the ZenFone Max Pro, however, are expected to come with a dual-camera setup. ASUS is also expected to be working on a ZenFone Max M2, bearing the model number ZB633KL. While the ZenFone Max Pro M2 is expected to be released soon, the ZenFone Max M2 will probably arrive next year. ASUS launched the ZenFone Max M1 in India only a few weeks back.

Currently, the most affordable smartphone with a triple-camera setup at the rear is the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), which starts at INR 22,990 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The ZenFone Max Pro M2 triple-camera variant, however, is expected to be priced at somewhere around INR 15,000 when it launches in India. The more affordable versions of the smartphone, however, are expected to feature a dual-camera setup at the rear.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 Rumored Specs

The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and ZenFone Max M2 smartphones had received EEC certification last month. While the certification did not reveal any key hardware specifications of the two smartphones, it did reveal that both models would ship with the Android Oreo operating system out of the box. The ZenFone Max Pro M2 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset under the hood, although, it is not clear if ASUS plans to stick with the Snapdragon 636 or switch to a more powerful Snapdragon 600-series chipset. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 6 Pro, which would be the Max Pro M2’s main rival in India, runs on the same Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. In the memory department, however, we expect the ZenFone Max Pro M1 successor to be offered in the same three memory configurations: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. The smartphone is expected to include a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion.

In the display department, some rumors suggest the ZenFone Max Pro M2 could sport a 6.3-inch sized display with Full HD+ resolution and a notch at the top. The battery capacity is expected to go up from 5000mAh to 5300mAh, which should allow the ZenFone Max Pro M2 to deliver even more impressive battery life than its predecessor.
