Update: Just like in previous years, the awards for the best TV of 2022 for the Indian Gadget Awards have been split into mainstream and premium segments. The mainstream segment includes the TVs priced under Rs 40,000 whereas the premium segment has no price bar. And the best TV of the year title at Indian Gadget Awards 2022 goes to Redmi Smart TV X55 (55-inch) in the mainstream segment and SONY BRAVIA XR MASTER Series A95K OLED in the premium segment.

Television market in India has evolved post Covid and seen a number of new launches lately. Buyers now have a plethora of brands to choose from. Even smartphone brands have entered the market by bringing their TVs and that too in the premium segment. For example, Xiaomi brought their flagship OLED Vision TV in India last year. Infinix was the latest smartphone brand to enter the TV market in 2022. However, it can’t be denied that brands like Samsung, LG, Sony, etc still own a major share in the premium TV market. Indian homegrown brand, VU has been dominating the market as well. It has support for Dolby Vision and HDR 10+.  The TV runs Google’s Android TV operating system based on version 10 and has Xiaomi’s PatchWall platform built in as well. You also get 30W speakers on it, with support for Dolby and DTS Virtual X sound. It has three HDMI, e-ARC and 2 USB ports for connecting other external devices. 

Blaupunkt 50 Inch QLED Ultra HD (50QD7010)

Blaupunkt 50-inch QLED 4K TV seems to be a value for money deal. As its name describes, it uses a QLED display that has support for Dolby Vision. The screen comes with Motion Compensation (MEMC) technology that increases the frame rate of the content. Besides that, it runs on Google TV operating system, has 60W speakers with CyberSound Gen 2 technology and Dolby Audio support, voice control remote, less bezels, and much more. You would be surprised to know that the TV just costs Rs 31,999.

Vu GLOLED TV 4K 55inch

Gone are the days when value for money deals used to come only from Chinese brands. Indian homegrown brand, Vu is offering good value for money deals, especially with its GLOLED TV. The TV features a 55-inch OLED display with support for Dolby Vision IQ, MEMC technology, and HDR10+. It runs on Google TV operating system. For movie and cricket lovers, it has a dedicated Cricket and Cinema mode. It has a solid sound output of 104W which is loudest in this segment. The VU GLOLED TV 4K 55-inch costs Rs 34,999.

Kodak 50 inch QLED Ultra HD (4K) Smart Google TV

The Kodak 50 inch QLED Ultra HD (4K) Smart Google TV is manufactured in India and costs under Rs 30,000. It uses a QLED screen that comes with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, over 1.1 billion colours, and the company’s own AMO technology, It supports Apple Airplay so iPhone users can stream content directly from their phone to TV. For audio output, it uses 40W speakers with Dolby Atmos support. It runs on Google TV operating system.

Infinix Zero 55 inch QLED Ultra HD (4K) Smart Android TV (55X3)

The popularity of TVs in India has pushed smartphone brands to enter the space and Infinix is the latest entrant among all. The Infinix Zero is the premium smart TV from the brand but costs just Rs 37,999. It uses a QLED panel that comes with Quantum Dot Display technology, MEMC, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It operates on an Android R operating system built for TVs. It has 3 HDMI and 2 USB ports. For sound, it has 36W output speakers that support Dolby Atmos sound.

OnePlus 55 Y1S Pro

OnePlus entered the TV smartphone market in India in 2019 and since then it has proven itself to make its name here. The company launched the 55 variant of its popular model Y1S Pro at the end of the year. It has fairly narrow bezels around the sides. It supports a 4K Ultra HD resolution and has support for HDR10+, Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation (MEMC). It runs on the Android TV-based Oxygen OS 2.0 out of the box. OnePlus users can control the TV via their OnePlus phone or Watch. It costs Rs 39,999 in India.
