Krafton is yet to officially release Battlegrounds Mobile India. The company is yet to make an official announcement on the game’s release date. Players can, however, download the early access version of the Battle Royale ahead of the release. It is worth noting that the game has crossed over 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store within two days of its beta release. As we get close to the launch date, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has demanded a ban on BGMI. In a letter written to the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the CAIT Secretary-General has stated that the game is a threat to the security of its citizens.
Praveen Khandelwal, the Secretary-General of CAIT, wrote to Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Law and Communications, Electronics and IT, urging him to put a ban on the release of the PUBG Mobile alternative. The trader body claims that the game endangers India’s national security and the data privacy of millions of its citizens.
This is not the first time that someone is asking the government to ban BGMI. Prior to CAIT, former Union Minister and current Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Erin wrote to the Prime Minister seeking a ban for the same reason. Another Member of Parliament, Abhishek Singhvi, tweeted that the game’s release is Tencent’s re-entry in India.
Krafton’s latest game is already available for early access download in India. The developers have made some changes to the rebadged version of PUBG Mobile. Some of the changes include the change in the colour of blood, which is now green. The word “Kill” has also been replaced with “Finishes”. Players will also be reminded of maintaining things such as correct posture, limiting screen time, among other things. These notices and messages have been labelled as being part of what is called the “Gameplay Management System”. You can click here to see the changes made to BGMI.
The developers have also laid down criteria for a permanent ban. Players who do not follow the rules of conduct and community policies will either be restricted from playing the game or banned permanently. You can click here to know more.
