Among the many ways in which OTT platforms like Prime Video, Netflix, Hotstar, and ZEE5 have managed to ramp up their subscriber base in India was to bundle premium subscriptions along with prepaid mobile recharges and postpaid plans. These platforms have, in the past, also tied up with ISP’s (among others) across India to offer bundled plans. The idea here is to get people hooked to a platform and then make them paying customers once they get the hang of how these platforms work and the kind of content they can consume.
We have, in the past, reported about several telecom, and broadband companies, including the likes of BSNL, Vodafone, Airtel, and Jio, offer bundled subscriptions.
Today, we have come across a new offer from Airtel that – at least for the time being – seems to be only available for select users who have installed the Airtel Thanks app on their phones. To avail this offer, the user will need to open the Airtel Thanks app and then go to the ‘Discover Airtel Thanks’ option that can be seen on the top of the home page. Note that Airtel and ZEE5 have had a longtime tie-up.
On the Discover Thanks page, you will be able to see several offers that are currently active for your number as well as some offers that you can avail. Check if you can spot the ZEE5 option within this section. If you do, click on it and you will be prompted to enter your birth date. You will also be prompted for an OTP, which you will receive on your registered mobile number. Once you enter the OTP, your 2-month subscription to ZEE5 will be activated.
Note that not all users might see this option within the Airtel Thanks app since the offers differ from person to person depending on the plans they have subscribed to on Airtel. in case you are an Airtel subscriber, let us know if you get the option to subscribe to this two-month premium subscription to ZEE5.
