In March this year, Xiaomi’s gaming brand Black Shark introduced its very first gaming smartphone featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core chipset, dubbed Black Shark 2. At the time of its launch, Xiaomi confirmed that the gaming smartphone will be launched internationally after its debut in China. The Black Shark 2 has now been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, suggesting the flagship gaming smartphone will be arriving in the country very soon.
Black Shark 2 India Launch Looks Imminent
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for the Black Shark 2 only includes the SKW-HO model number. Since no other details have been listed, it remains to be seen if Xiaomi will be selling the top-end variant of the Black Shark 2 with 12GB RAM in the Indian market. Thanks to class-leading hardware and several gaming-specific features, the Black Shark 2 is undoubtedly among the most impressive gaming smartphones announced so far. While Xiaomi is yet to reveal any specific details regarding the launch of the Black Shark 2 in India, we can expect the formal launch to take place sometime before the end of the second quarter.
Black Shark 2 is equipped with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display panel featuring 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution and Full DC dimming. It also offers Super HDR and an eye protection mode. As mentioned earlier, the Black Shark 2 runs on a 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset with Liquid Cooling 3.0 technology, coupled with up to 12GB RAM. In terms of storage, the gaming smartphone packs up to 256GB of built-in storage.
When it comes to optics, Black Shark 2 has a 48MP + 12MP dual-camera setup on the back with 2x optical zoom and 4K video recording. For selfies, the smartphone features a 20MP sensor on the front with an f/2.0 aperture. Some of the other major highlights include a 4000mAh battery with 27W fast charging, stereo speakers, triple microphones, and an In-display fingerprint sensor.
