Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had rolled out the Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) service in India long back. However, the service was available in only a few regions such as Kerala, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, in the country. Now, the brand has rolled out the VoLTE service in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu as well. To activate the VoLTE service, type ‘ACTVOLTE’ in a text message and send it to 53733. Once you do that, it might take up to 24 hours for the service to activate.
The VoLTE service, as most of you might know, works over the 4G network. And what is it used for? Well, it enables making calls using mobile data (Internet). Another benefit of VoLTE is that it allows smartphone to be connected to the internet even while making calls, which isn’t possible on the 4G network without VoLTE. The VoLTE service also offers better call quality with HD calling. However, we don’t know at the moment if BSNL is offering HD calling with its VoLTE service.
BSNL has been pretty slow at rolling out latest connectivity technologies including 4G and VoLTE. While the brand has still not completed rolling out 4G and VoLTE in India, other telecom operators like Airtel and Jio have not only rolled of 4G and VoLTE across the country, but they are now rolling our VoWiFi as well. Moreover, Jio is said to launch the 5G service as well in the near future. How has been your experience with BSNL? Do let us know in the comments section below.
