BSNL Offers Free 1GB of Data to Users on Downloading Revamped My BSNL App for the First Time

The updated app allows the subscribers to make recharges, check for account details, pay bills (broadband and postpaid) and browse through the special offers


BSNL is on a roll with its STVs and the other prepaid recharge offerings. Recently, the telco introduced the option to carry forward the unused data in one of its postpaid plans. The state-run telecom operator is taking baby steps and taking one segment at a time, but it is catching up with the private telcos, nonetheless. In the latest development, the company is offering data incentives to the subscribers upon downloading My BSNL App for the first time. The telecom operator has revamped the app for the Android Users in partnership with Call2action Communication India. The data that is being offered is 1GB.

Data Benefit is Available for Both Postpaid and Prepaid Users

The 1GB of 2G/3G data that comes after downloading the app is available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. The validity of the free data will be 30 days. This data is complimentary and it can be used on the top of your existing plan. If you end up consuming the daily data, you will be entitled to exhaust the 1GB additional data. The offer ends on December 31st, 2018. If you are an Android user, you can head over to the Google Play Store and download the app, weighing only 7.9 MB.

My BSNL App Brings Better Consumer Self-Care Services

BSNL has missed out on the customer self-care services for a large part of its existence. Private telecom operators like Idea, Vodafone, Airtel have managed to keep the users hooked with their customer service apps. Even Reliance Jio started with its own app mentioning the current and available plan details along with a whole suite of entertainment app. The dedicated apps for the network help the subscribers get all the information regarding their existing plans, the option to browse through other plans, and other and other self-care services.

BSNL has lagged in this department and didn’t seem to care until now. The telecom operator has collaborated with Call2Action Communication to roll out the updates app for the customers. Note that the app can be accessed by both BSNL subscribers and those on other networks. The revamped app delivers call alerts, SMS, notifications, location-based advertising, and other promotional content. In addition to this, the platform also offers IP based messaging and calling services.

Commenting on the release, BSNL Chairman & Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava stated, “This is a new business model which will transform the mobile advertising industry. Infomo will help us break into the mobile advertising market segment with a totally different offering to the existing ecosystem”.

Shrivastava also mentioned that they have a database of over 5 million existing users of the My BSNL app on the Android devices. He further added that Infomo will motivate more users to install the revamped app and use it on their devices to stay updated with the latest of BSNL.

Furthermore, the My BSNL app also allows the subscribers to make recharges, check for account details, pay bills (broadband and postpaid) and browse through the special offers and top-ups available in your circle. In addition to all this, the app also enables the users to look for the 4G hotspots situated at different locations all across the country. It also comes with the International Wi-Fi service built right inside. The revamped app looks promising and hopefully, BSNL will attract more customers and keep the existing user base intact.
