The telecom sector in India is buzzing with competition, and none of the telcos want to be left behind in making their plans better by adding content services. In the latest move, BSNL has clubbed free Eros Now subscription for its consumers. While BSNL is at giving a free subscription, Bharti Airtel has launched a new recharge plan that costs INR 76. Let’s check out both the offers from BSNL and Airtel.
BSNL Prepaid Users Get Eros Now Subscription
The state-owned Bharti Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is offering a premium subscription to Eros Now, and it will be made accessible to the BSNL users by the end of January 2019. Eros Now is one of the online video content providers in India, it is an arm of Eros productions that has produced a good chunk of movies in India. Some of the movies on the platform are exclusive to it. The premium subscription to Eros Now provides 11,000 movies, videos, original web series, and more.
Eros Digital CEO, Rishika Lulla said in a statement that with tier 2 and tier 3 cities and rural areas in India, India is poised to reach USD 5 billion by the year 2023. The company’s alliance with BSNL is a step towards expanding its reach in urban and rural areas. This is not the first time when the state-owned telco has partnered with a content provider. Last year, BSNL partnered with Amazon to provide Amazon Prime subscription to prepaid and broadband consumers. The telco was also in talks with Hotstar and Netflix for a similar tie-up.
Concerning Eros Now subscription for the BSNL users, the telco has not revealed which prepaid STVs will get Eros Now subscription. We do know that the eligible STVs will be able to login into the premium dashboard of Eros Now with their phone number. We will update this post once we get our hands on the list of eligible STVs for the subscription.
