Call of Duty and disk space go hand in hand, or such has come to be the case. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has come to have a reputation for taking up a generous share of players’ storages. Now it looks like the next Call of Duty game is going to live up to this legacy. Activision has now confirmed that the upcoming game, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will need up to 250 GB of storage space on your PC.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare had initially released with a 175 GB install size on PC. However, with latest updates, the game has gone on to take 250 GB of storage. On the other hand, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War system requirements for PC that Activision recently posted, reveal that the game could start off with 250 GB, but it depends upon what settings you want to play the game at.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War System Requirements for PC shows what makes for the high disk space. The minimum space you will need to play the game is 50GB, but that will not include all the game modes, but just multiplayer. For all the game modes included, and Ray Tracing support, 175 GB will be the required disk space. The 250 GB requirement is for the game to be able to run at Ultra RTX settings.

It looks like the disk space will be the cost for next-generation features. Future updates are likely to pile on the disk space requirements as Modern Warfare did.

Space requirements for Xbox Series X and PS5 have not been revealed yet. However, they’re unlikely to be as high, since consoles are single-spec devices, which means developers can consolidate resources to the specific console and save space, unlike for PC games.
