OPPO has been among the leading smartphone manufacturers to have rolled out the new Android 13 update. While the company has not rolled out its latest ColorOS 13 update for a majority of phones, it has released the update for several mid-range and premium phones launched in 2022. The company has already rolled out the update for its latest Reno 8 series in India. Now, the Reno 7 Pro has received the new Android 13 update.

OPPO confirmed that the Reno 7 Pro India variant will get the update from December 16. The company has also listed a few things to keep in mind before installing the new Android 13 update.

OPPO Reno 7 Pro 5G Gets ColorOS 13

The OPPO Reno 7 Pro 5G joins the list of smartphones to have received the Android 13-based ColorOS 13 update within months of the official launch. The company confirmed that Reno 7 Pro Indian users can expect to start getting the new update from December 16.

To check if your unit of the Reno 7 Pro has received an update, go to Settings > Software Update. Once the update is available, tap on download and install. Since the update is being rolled out in a phased manner, it could be possible that you might not get it on the scheduled date. We suggest waiting for a few days in such a situation.

Once you have the update, we advise taking a backup of your data before downloading and installing the update on your primary phone. This will help recover any data if there is any issue while installing the update. Once the update is installed, the OS will automatically perform several actions to optimise the device, which could lead to heating, lagging, and/or the battery draining more quickly. OPPO recommends users turn off the screen and charge their device for a whole night after updating successfully.

Also worth noting is that some third-party applications might not be compatible with the new update, which could lead to frequent crashing or lag. It is advised to update these apps from the App Market or Play Store for smoother functioning.

The new ColorOS 13 update gets a new Aquamorphic design, which according to the company provides smoother, more natural and vivid animations. It also provides support for adding a larger folder on the home screen along with some personalisation options. Users can now add bitmojis in their Always-On Display (AoD) animations. Not just Bitmoji as other apps like Spotify, Swiggy and Zomato also support personalisation options on AoD.

The OS also recognises and recommends the best moments in videos and lets users export and save them to the Photos app with a single tap.

The update is also said to be more efficient than ever. For better privacy and security, OPPO has added an automatic pixelation feature for chat screenshots to hide personal and sensitive data. The ColorOS update also comes with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to encrypt all files for enhanced security of private files.
