We all know that Delhi is witnessing a steep rise in the COVID-19 cases. The national capital has a positivity rate of COVID-19 cases is at all timely high. On April 14th, Delhi recorded 17,282 fresh COVID cases, which is the highest single-day surge ever recorded in the national capital since the onset of the pandemic. The national capital has left Mumbai far behind in the daily rising cases of COVID-19 patients. It is a fact that the Delhi government is grappling with the surging COVID-19 cases and it previously introduced a night curfew in the capital. Now, the Delhi government has further imposed stricter rules including a weekend curfew along with the closure of shopping malls, auditoriums, gyms, spas, bars, and dine-in services at restaurants till April 30th.

The weekend curfew will remain in force between 10:00 PM Friday (April 16th) and 5: AM Monday (April 19th). The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has made it mandatory for people to make e-pass for travel during the weekend curfew. The order also reveals the following guidelines:

  • All Shopping malls, gymnasiums, Spas, auditoriums, Assembly Halls, Entertainment Parks, and similar places will be closed.
  • Cinema halls will be permitted to open with 30 per cent of their seating capacity.
  • Only one weekly market per day per zone in all three Municipal corporations will be allowed subject to strict compliance.
  • Special epass will be provided to people whose marriages are scheduled during the curfew period.
  • Movements of persons for marriage related gathering will be up to 50 people and funeral/ last rites related gathering will be up to 20 people during the weekend curfew.

Types of Movement Passes in Delhi

People can apply for the weekend curfew epass from Delhi Police official website. As per the latest ruling by the DDMA, there will be two types of movement passes given by Delhi Police.

The first one will be for the individuals who are having personal emergencies that require an immediate visit to the doctor/hospital, buying essentials items, and more.

Secondly, the movement pass will be given to those people who are engaged in the delivery of emergency/essential services within and outside Delhi during the weekend curfew hours.

Who All Can Apply For Delhi Weekend Curfew ePass?

DDMA has released new order that details on the individuals that can apply for the weekend curfew epas. Here’s a list:

  • Shops, dealing with foods, groceries, fruits & vegetables, dairy & milk booths, meat &
    fish, animal fodder, pharmaceuticals, medicines and medical equipment.
  • Banks, insurance offices and ATMs.
  • Telecommunications, Internet services, broadcasting and cable services, IT and IT-enabled services.
  • Delivery of all essential goods including foods, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment
    through e-commerce.
  • Petrol pumps, LPG, CNG, petroleum and gas retail and storage outlets.
  • Power generation, transmission and distribution units and services.
  • Private security services, banks, insurance offices, and ATMs.
  • Cold storage and warehousing services, manufacturing units of essential commodities, and production units or services, which require the continuous process.
  • Persons who are going for COVID-19 vaccination.

How to Submit Delhi Weekend Curfew ePass Application

Like we said before, you need to apply for a pass from the Delhi Police official website. Users can visit www.delhipolice.nic.in and follow these steps:

  1. Go to Delhi Police official website and then click on Movement Pass. Alternatively, you can click on this link.
  2. You will be taken to the login page. Click on Create account.
  3. Enter the details like Name, phone number, address, username, and password. Enter the captcha code at the bottom and click on Submit.
  4. You will be taken to another window where you need to enter the OTP number that will come to your mobile number.
  5. Once done, log in using the newly-created account.
  6. Fill the application form on the website.
  7. Now, upload your photograph and proof of identification. Click on Submit your application.

Once you are done with the registration process, you will be notified via SMS when your movement pass is approved. You can then go to your account and download the Movement Pass on your smartphone or take a printout to show the security personnel wherever required.

List of Valid Documents

When it comes to documents, people upload two things. Firstly, you need to upload your photograph on the portal. Secondly, you need to upload any proof of identification including an Aadhaar card, driving licence, PAN Card, passport, ration card, Voter ID card, and more.

Validity of the ePass

As per the Delhi Police website, the movement pass or the epass issued by the authority will be valid till April 30, 2021.
