Dell Inspiron 14 5480 and Inspiron 15 5580 Notebooks Launched in India: Price, Features


PC maker Dell has launched two new Inspiron 5000 series notebooks in India: Inspiron 5480 and Inspiron 5580. While the Inspiron 5480 is a 14-inch notebook, the Inspiron 5580 is a 15-inch notebook. Both of them run on 8th Generation Whiskey Lake Intel Core processors and are targeted at tech-savvy users.

The Dell Inspiron 14 5480 starts at INR 36,990 in India and goes up to INR 52,989 for the top-end configuration. Dell Inspiron 15 5580, on the other hand, starts at INR 37,990 for the base configuration and goes up to INR 55,990 for the most expensive configuration. Both models are now on sale exclusively on the Dell India website. You can get the Inspiron 14 5480 in Platinum Silver and Burgundy Blaze colors, while the Inspiron 15 5580 is available in Platinum Silver and Ink.

The Dell Inspiron 14 5480 comes with a 14.0-inch Anti-glare IPS LCD display with narrow bezels and 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution. While the base variant is powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core i3-8145U processor, the more expensive configuration runs on a Core i5-8265U processor. The notebook comes with up to 8GB DDR4-2666 memory, 1TB 5400 rpm hard drive, Intel UHD Graphics 620, and a 3-cell 42WHr integrated battery.

Dell Inspiron 15 5580 features a larger 15.6-inch IPS LCD display with a similar narrow border design as the Inspiron 5480. The panel comes with an anti-glare coating and offers 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution. Apart from a bigger display, the Inspiron 15 5580 is largely identical to the 14-inch model in terms of key specifications. The only major differences include up to a 2TB hard drive and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 2GB GDDR5 graphics memory in the most expensive configuration. Dell Inspiron 15 5580 also comes with Intel Optane memory, something that the 14-inch model does not. Both notebooks feature the Dell Cinema package, which claims to offer “the ultimate personal theater experience”. However, only the 14-inch model comes with a miniaturized 4-element lens webcam with temporal noise reduction feature to boost low-light sensitivity.
