Disney+ Hotstar and Dolby Laboratories have collaborated to bring an immersive audio experience to Disney+ Hotstar app users through Dolby Atmos. A couple of weeks back, Hotstar was spotted testing this new feature on its Android app and today, the company has officially announced the feature.
With this announcement, Disney+ Hotstar also becomes the first Indian OOT app in India to integrate Dolby Atmos audio technology. The platform had already received Dolby Vision support for select titles a couple of years back and now the Dolby Atmos sound tech is available on compatible TVs, AVRs, soundbars, Android and iOS devices. Disney+ Hotstar Gets Dolby Atmos Support
Disney+ Hotstar has added Dolby Atmos audio support and users will be able to take advantage of the multidimensional, spatial sound experience of Dolby Atmos on the app and take the centre seat and experience the content on the platform. The feature is available for all (paid) users regardless of the plan.
For those who are new to this, Dolby Atmos is a surround sound technology that allows up to 128 audio tracks and the associated spatial audio description metadata to be distributed for optimal, dynamic rendering to loudspeakers. This audio feature will bring an immersive and theatre-like experience to the phone.
To experience the same, a user must have a Dolby Atmos-supported phone, TV, soundbar, etc. Most of the new mid-range flagship devices come with Dolby Atmos support. Dolby Atmos sound is available for movies, shows, and more on Disney+ Hotstar.
