Twitter to Appoint Elon Musk to Its Board of Directors, Announces CEO Parag Agrawal


Elon Musk, the man behind SpaceX and Tesla recently acquired a 9.2 per cent stake in the popular social media company, Twitter. With this, he also became the single largest shareholder of the company and soon after this was made public earlier today, Elon Musk posted a new poll on Twitter asking if users wanted an edit button on the platform.

Now, Twitter’s CEO, Parag Agrawal has announced that Musk will be appointed to Twitter’s Board of Directors. In a tweet, Parag Agrawal said that “Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring great value to our Board.”

Following up on his original tweet, Parag praised and welcomed Elon Musk to the team by saying “He’s both a passionate believer and intense critic of the service which is exactly what we need on @Twitter, and in the boardroom, to make us stronger in the long-term. Welcome Elon! In response to Parag’s Tweet, Elon replied that he’s looking forward to working with Parag and Twitter board to make significant improvements to Twitter in the coming months.

Elon Musk Recently Bought Major Stake in Twitter

Elon Musk recently acquired 73.5 million shares of the social media platform, which made him the single largest shareholder of Twitter. As soon at the news broke all over the internet Twitter’s share price started to go up and at the end of the day, Twitter’s share price went up by 27%.

Musk’s poll Tweet on Edit button Got Massive Traction

Earlier today, Elon Musk posted a poll tweet asking if users wanted an edit button. As of now, the poll has received close to 3 million votes and unsurprisingly, 73.5% of them have voted in favour of the edit button. While there is no confirmation yet on the edit button, this poll has started a lot of talks on the platform on both sides.

Twitter to get new features soon with Musk on its board of directors?

Elon Musk has always been a hardcore Twitter user, be it sharing some memes or Tesla and SpaceX related updates. With Musk joining the board of directors team at Twitter, one can only hope he will pitch and work on improving the experience on the platform 一 be it by fixing the know issues or adding some new features. On Twitter, he has already started responding to some of the issues on Twitter with some users. With him now being a prominent member of the company’s board, one can only hope that his ideas will soon be transformed into new features on the platform.

Like yesterday, soon after Musk’s appointment to the board, the share price of Twitter has jumped 8%.
