Epic Games to Reportedly Give Away 15 Free Games This Christmas

Christmas might have just gotten a whole lot more fun.

Epic Store

The Epic Games Store routinely gives out freebies each month and it looks like Epic has some big plans for Christmas this year. Epic to new leaks, it appears that Epic will be giving out about 15 free games over the period of December 16-30. Each game will be available for free for one day only, with the last, 15th title being available for a week.

The leaks come from Dealabs user Billbill-Kun, who was responsible for the PS Plus free games leak for the past few months. While the Epic hasn’t confirmed the free game for next week, December 16, speculation is that the ‘Mystery Game’ is indeed Shenmue 3. If the leaks are accurate, then Shenmue 3 will only be the first of 15 titles going up on the store for free.

Epic Games Store might give away 15 titles for free through Christmas

Shenmue 3 Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store freebie has been a great way to bring people to the platform and a report shared by Epic earlier this year detailed that certain free games such as Grand Theft Auto V were able to bring in early 7 million new users to the platform. Thus, it seems realistic to assume that the 15 game freebie promotion will be able to do similar numbers if the games are popular enough.

Shenmue 3 is likely to be available for free on the Store on December 16 and it’s a great, fun title to start with. It will be interesting to see what kind of games Epic has in store for players through Christmas. Chances are, many of these titles will be smaller, indie games as opposed to AAA titles. Epic is also reportedly planning a year-end sale towards the end of the month that will run till January 6, 2021.
