It was just a few days ago that we posted details about OPPO’s upcoming A-series handsets -the OPPO A73 and the OPPO A53. Back then, the OPPO A53 had appeared on several certification websites – including NBTC, EEC, FCC, BIS, TKDN, Indonesian Telecom, and Geekbench. Today, an industry source who doesn’t wish to be named has revealed to us most of the specifications of the OPPO A53.

Let’s take a look.

OPPO A53 Specifications, key features

While earlier rumors talked about the possibility of the OPPO A53 coming powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, our source tells us that the device will, in fact, feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset. This is a relatively new chipset, having been announced earlier this year. The SD460 SoC offers a massive jump in performance when compared to older SD4XX series chipsets and uses powerful Kryo 240 CPUs and the Adreno 610 GPU for graphics. For the same reason, the apparent ‘downgrade’ from an SD6XX chipset (on the OPPO A52) to an SD4xx chipset isn’t really worrisome.

The OPPO A53 shall be offered in two variants across Asian markets – a base 4GB +64GB variant, and a pricier 6GB +128GB option. The handset also features a massive 5000 mAh battery that will also support 18W fast charging with the supplied VOOC charger. As for the camera setup, the phone gets a triple camera setup at the rear that includes a 13MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the OPPO A53 gets a 16MP punch hole camera.

OPPO A53 Specifications

The display on the OPPO A53 measures 6.53-inches across, and it happens to be an IPS LCD panel that supports 90Hz refresh rate. As already made clear, the display has a punch hole for the front-facing camera. We also know that the handset gets a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for additional security.

What we do not know yet is the launch date for both these new A series handsets in India. That being said, we expect the phone to launch in Thailand, Indonesia, India, and Western and European markets since it has already received NBTC, EEC, FCC, BIS, TKDN, Indonesian and Indonesian Telecom certifications.
