  • Facebook and Twitter are unable to stop pornographic content on their platform.
  • Indian Government banned porn in 2018.
  • Both companies mention that they don’t allow any nudity on their platform.

Pornographic content and websites have been banned in India since 2018. The Government of India also blocked 63 such websites last year in September. However, those who want to spread such content have found ways to share them, and the most feasible way for them is to share them on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Sadly, despite having a long list of policies, none of the platforms have managed to do anything about it. Neither Facebook nor Twitter have taken down such videos or acted on those accounts. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Facebook’s Watch Section Reportedly Has Porn Content

Despite pornographic content being banned in India, several Facebook and Twitter accounts share such videos on the platform. They are either full-fledged videos, live broadcasts, shorts, etc. A report from Entracker highlights such accounts.

A Facebook account named Viral Videos has around 14,000 followers and has been live-streaming porn videos from random websites on its page. For some reason, the page has been using tags like#CristianoRonaldo #@cristiano Love #i #Tadap in all of its videos.

Other pages named ‘Radhika’ and ‘Nutan Kumari’ looked like genuine profiles. However, it seems that they are using photos of some other girls. They have over 80,000 followers and publish videos at night but delete them also.

Several such profiles have been sharing such so-called soft porn videos on Facebook. Interestingly, all the pages that we mentioned are listed as a gaming creator or a video creator. Moreover, the page details reveal that these are being managed by users in India, the US and some other countries.

Facebook, being the largest social media platform in the World, is still unable to deal with the violations that are happening on its platform.

Facebook’s adult policies state that “the display of nudity or sexual activity” is strictly restricted on its platform.

Twitter Also Facing Problems Managing Porn Content

It’s not just Meta-owned Facebook that cannot stop pornographic content on its platforms. But, Elon Musk-owned Twitter has also been unable to control the restrictions on its platform.

Twitter has always dealt with bot problems, and some of them share their obscene pics in the replies of random users. Most of the Onlyfans account owners are active on Twitter to market themselves. They would share their obscene pictures or videos on Twitter with Onlyfans links so that most users can subscribe to them. We have added some screenshots below (Of course, we have censored them).

Last week on Twitter, this became a trend, and over a thousand girls shared their topless pictures on the platform and guess what? Twitter didn’t take any action on either of them. Do note that Twitter took down the main tweet with no image attached to it.

Twitter, in its policy rules, states that no one can share any “violent or adult nudity and sexual behaviour within the live video”. But all the above examples are enough to prove that Twitter has been unable to stop pornographic content on its platform.
