Fortnite has now seemingly become the king of crossovers in the video game world – with the latest one bringing the King himself to the game. NBA superstar and arguably the greatest player of the modern generation – LeBron James is the latest celebrity making their way to Fortnite this week.
Starting on July 14, players will be able to acquire 2 versions of the Lakers superstar – a regular LeBron outfit and a skin from his role in the upcoming Space Jam sequel – A New Legacy. This latest crossover will make LeBron James the first NBA athlete to appear in Fortnite.
LeBron James skins will be available in Fortnite Starting on July 14
Fortnite have been upping its game in terms of crossovers steadily – with football superstars like Neymar appearing in the game as well as hip-hop megastar Travis Scott. Previously, Fortnite had featured NBA team uniforms as skins, and now LeBron will be the first athlete to make their way into the metaverse.
Along with the two skins, associated accessories will be available as part of a bundle. Both the outfits will also feature the King’s upcoming shoe – the Nike LeBron 19. There had been rumours of a LeBron James-themed skin for the game, stemming from the Epic v Apple trial – which shed light on Epic’s plans going forward.
It does seem like Epic Games and Fortnite have cornered the market on celebrity crossovers and the King’s appearance certainly makes quite a statement. NBA fans will definitely be looking to cop themselves these outfits.
