The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch, which the company had teased recently, has now been leaked. First reported by WinFuture, an early retail listing of the device has given us some details about the smartwatch’s specs and features. And as expected, the device runs on the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset, being one of the first devices to use that chipset this year. The Snapdragon Wear 4100+ is an update to the 4100 chip that was unveiled by Qualcomm in June last year. Fossil using the new chip could be a sign that the chip will be seen on more wearables soon.

That said, it’s somewhat difficult to recommend new smartwatches running on WearOS right now. Google and Samsung had announced a partnership recently, which merged the South Korean smartphone maker’s Tizen platform with WearOS. The new version, WearOS 3 is available only on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 announced earlier this month. While the Fossil Gen 6 will get the new operating system too, it doesn’t have it right now.

That said, the 1.7GHz chipset inside is comparable with any other. It uses a quad-core Cortex A53 design and uses the QCC1110 co-processor from Qualcomm. The Fossil Gen 6 will also support sleep and heart rate tracking, which are offloaded to the co-processor. It also has an SpO2 sensor, which offers blood oxygen tracking, a feature that has become really popular since Apple added it to last year’s Apple Watch Gen 6. The Fossil Gen 6 has a radial watch face, which highlights data from all of these sensors.

The Fossil Gen 6 will be available in 42mm and 44mm variants and are mostly similar to previous generations in terms of device. It has three buttons and a crown on the right edge. There’s a 1.28 inch display with 416×416 pixel resolution and 50 meter water resistance. We’re not quite sure how much RAM the device has right now, it should have at least 1GB of RAM, because that’s the spec the Fossil Gen 5E (in photo above) carried. There’s also 8GB storage onboard the device.

The India pricing of the device isn’t known right now, and it is expected to be priced between €299-329 in European markets.
