Fossil has launched a new smartwatch in the Gen 6 series to take on the newly launched Google Pixel Watch. The newly launched smart wearable from Fossil is called the Gen 6 Wellness Edition and it is a health-centric smartwatch with some key changes in the design and more health-related features.

Another key highlight of the device is the software on the smartwatch. The new Gen 6 Wellness Edition runs on Wear OS 3 platform, making it the first smartwatch from the house of Fossil to do so. The watch sports Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, fast charging, and much more. Let’s take a look at the watch in detail.

Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition: Price and Availability

The Gen 6 Wellness Edition is priced at US $299 (~Rs 24,700) and will be available for purchase from October 17th via the Fossil website in the US. There is no word on the Indian availability of the smartwatch yet.

The Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition comes with a 1.28-inch display housed in a 44mm case. The watch has two buttons on the side along with a rotating crown 一 all can be used to navigate across the UI and access the menu and apps. Under the hood, the device is backed by a Snapdragon 4100+ chipset, which is the same as the Gen 6 family.

In terms of design, the Wellness Edition comes with sleek, curved stainless steel edges, making it look more premium than the regular Gen 6 watches. In terms of software, the Gen 6 Wellness Edition runs on Google’s Wear OS 3, which is said to offer a smoother UI almost similar to the Pixel Watch, which was announced a few days back. To take on the Pixel Watch and Fitbit, Fossil has added features like cardio tracking, HR monitoring, SpO2, and Vo2 Max. In addition, the company has also upgraded the companion Fossil app.

Further, the watch also has the ability to automatically start workouts depending on your movements. According to Android Central, it misses out on Google Assistant but, packs in Alexa. The watch also works with iOS. In terms of other hardware features, there is 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, Bluetooth 5, and NFC. It is rated to last one full day and comes with support for fast charging.
