Android Oreo (Go Edition) was announced last December, and since then, many handset makers including Nokia, Huawei, Alcatel, and a few others have jumped the bandwagon to release their own devices running Google’s stripped down version of Android. Samsung has been fairly late to the game with the company announcing it’s first Android Go device: the Galaxy J2 Core in late August this year. However, the company will soon be following that up with a slightly more powerful model in the series, aptly called Galaxy J4 Core.

A lot of information surrounding the new upcoming handset has leaked today, thanks to a generous Brazilian retailer who has listed the handset with HD renders on an e-commerce portal. You won’t be able to buy it yet though. So, what extra does the J4 Core bring to the table? Well, according to the listing, there are upgrades in the screen, the processor, the physical footprint of the handset itself as well as storage.

Leaked Specifications of Samsung Galaxy J4 Core

The Galaxy J4 Core will be replacing the old 16:9 aspect ratio of the 5-inch Galaxy J2 Core with a 6-inch 18:9 Infinity Display while also upping the resolution to HD+ from qHD which is 720 × 1480 pixels. Coming to the processor, some might be excited to see a Snapdragon 430 processor inside the J4 Core in place of in-house Exynos 7570 that was on the J2 Core. Well, it is one of the interesting aspects of the handset considering this is an Android Go device we’re talking about. The 1GB of RAM on the previous Android Go device is deemed sufficient for the J4 Core as well, according to the leaked listing and that is what you mostly see on Android Go devices anyway. However, the storage gets upgraded to a generous 16GB. It’s worth noting that the J2 Core also had a microSD card slot, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one on the Galaxy J4 Core.

Other key hardware features include a 3300mAh battery that will be needed for the bigger 6-inch screen, an 8MP main camera, and a 5MP front camera. The cameras are probably the same as were on the J2 model, so there’s likely no upgrade here.

In addition to the bare-all listing, a user manual was found lying on Samsung’s portal and it is available still to download. We didn’t read the complete manual but a glance on its index revealed a lot about it. We’re expecting the device to be a dual-SIM version and all hardware button layouts. We will leave a link to the PDF here if you want to check that out.

Expected Price in India

Talking about the design of the handset revealed from the HD renders, the Galaxy J4 Core seems to be made out of a polycarbonate shell and there’s no fingerprint reader on the device. Judging from the two renders, it will be available in two colours: Blue and Gold, besides the Black one.

The Galaxy J2 Core is priced at INR 5,990 in India and we expect the Galaxy J4 Core to be priced at INR 1,000 more than the J2. However, the handset might take some time to arrive in India as it has currently showed up on the American continent and we’re likely to see it being announced in that region first. The Galaxy J4 Core is Samsung’s second offering in the ultra-affordable Android Oreo (Go Edition) segment.
