They will utilize their unique abilities and powers to go against new threats like Kraven The Hunter, Venom, and Lizard. It is a worthy sequel to the Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018).

Sniper Elite: Resistance
Sniper Elite: Resistance is the newest tactical shooter video game in the popular Sniper Elite series from Rebellion Developments. Its story runs parallel with the events of the Sniper Elite 5 which was the last release in the series. Harry Hawker, an SOE agent, is sent on a mission to take out a new powerful weapon “Wunderwaffe”. The game promises a new campaign, Propaganda Missions, and authentic World War 2 weapons. It will be a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7
Civilization 7 is set to be the seventh main entry in Sid Meier’s Civilization series of turn-based strategy games. It is essentially a 4X genre game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate). In the game, you will get to rule as one of many leaders from history and choose a new civilization to represent your empire in each Age of human advancement. The ultimate objective is to navigate through challenges and make crucial decisions in an attempt to build the greatest civilization the world has ever seen.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is an upcoming game in the globally renowned Assassin’s Creed franchise. Its events will take place towards the end of the Sengoku period in feudal Japan. The game has two protagonists Naoe, a shinobi Assassin, and Yasuke, an African samurai. It will focus on both stealth and brute force combat mechanisms for completing objectives. Since it’s an Assassin’s Creed game, there will be a vast open world to explore, collect information, and do side-missions. It was originally planned for a 2024 release but will now arrive next year.

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is an upcoming remastered version of the Tomb Raider Darkness Trilogy from the early 2000s. It features three games Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (1999), Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000), and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (2003). The new version will have remastered graphics but players can also play with the original polygonal character models. It will have a fully customisable Photo Mode where you can choose from different outfits, poses, weapons, and expressions.

Avowed
Avowed is an upcoming first-person fantasy role-playing game (RPG) from Obsidian. It is set in the same fictional world of Eora that we first saw in Pillers of Eternity. The game’s story revolves around a mysterious plague affecting an island called Living Lands. Players will control an envoy of Aedyr who must figure out what’s going on and defeat the ultimate threat using swords, bows, shields, guns, and spells.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a spin-off title in the Like a Dragon series. Its story takes place after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (2024) (Review). It will have Goro Majima as the main playable character who loses his memory and finds himself stranded on Rich Island. He is saved by a boy named Noah and as the story progresses, he gets entangled in a new conflict between Hawaiian pirates and ex-Yakuza members over a lost treasure.

Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter Wilds is an upcoming action RPG in the Monster Hunter series. It is a direct successor to Monster Hunter: World from 2018. The Guild finds a boy named Nata near the border of the Forbidden Lands, an uncharted region believed to be uninhabited. Nata tells the Guild that a mysterious monster attacked his village. This leads to the Guild sending a monster hunter on an expedition where he must solve the mystery and rescue Nata’s village folks.

Grand Theft Auto 6
Grand Theft Auto 6 aka GTA 6 is undoubtedly the most anticipated and hyped video game launch for 2025. Its first official trailer was released last year which showed the game’s story is set in the fictional state of Leonida (inspired by Florida, US) and Vice City (inspired by Miami). The trailer introduced the two protagonists Lucia and Jason who are partners in crimes (literally). It is currently slated for a release in the second half of 2025.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is a sequel to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding released in 2019. A trailer for the game was showcased at PlayStation State of Play in January 2024. It showed different characters that will appear in the game including main character Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile. It also introduced us to a new character Tomorrow portrayed by Elle Fanning, an American actress.

Ghost of Yotei
Ghost of Yotei is an upcoming action-adventure game and a stand-alone sequel to Sucker Punch’s 2020 hit Ghost of Tsushima. It means this game will have a completely new original story and characters. Its story will take place in 1603, over 300 years after the events of the original release. It will have a new female protagonist Atsu set in a Japanese area now known as Hokkaido.

Borderlands 4
Gearbox confirmed Borderlands 4 as the next entry in the popular looter-shooter game franchise in August. Unfortunately, not much is known about the game except for this brief official description: “Players will once again assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they search for secret alien treasure while blasting everything in sight.” The game is also confirmed to feature four new Vault Hunters.

Doom: The Dark Ages
Doom: The Dark Ages is confirmed to be the eighth main entry in the Doom franchise. This first-person shooter game will serve as the origin story for the DOOM Slayer. The game is a prequel to Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal (2020). It will be a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of the popular and classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from 2004. The game’s story will remain unchanged as it serves as an origin story for the franchise’s iconic military operative “Snake”. The remake version will have new graphics and 3D audio to elevate the game’s survival stealth action experience.

Stellar Blade (PC)
Stellar Blade was released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in April 2024 where it has sold over a million copies. The game’s developer Shift Up is now working on a PC launch in 2025. Its protagonist Eve is a soldier sent to Earth from a space station called The Colony to help humans fight against monstrous creatures. The main objective is to save humanity and reclaim Earth from creatures called Naytibas.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an upcoming first-person action-adventure game set in 1937. Its story takes place between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade movies. Its protagonist archaeologist Indiana Jones must stop sinister groups looking for the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle. The game will release on Xbox consoles and PCs on December 9 but PlayStation 5 players will have to wait until next year.
