Split Fiction is the newest and hottest co-op multiplayer video game in town. It is a story of two young writers, Zoe and Mio, who cater to different genres. They find themselves trapped in their creative ideas. Even though the duo does not get along, they have no choice but to team up if they want to escape.
Like previous Hazelight Studios games, Split Fiction is a strictly co-op multiplayer video game. It means there is no solo gameplay and here is how you can play Split Fiction with your friends.
How to Play Split Fiction with Friends Locally
- Launch the Split Fiction game on your device.
- Choose Play Local from the list of options in the main menu.
- Connect a second controller and choose characters: Zoe and Mio.
- Confirm your selection, and you will be good to go.
How to Play Split Fiction with Friends Online
The first thing you need to know about Split Fiction online co-op is that only one of the players needs to own the game. The second player can join the action via the free Split Fiction Friend’s Pass. It can be downloaded through the digital store of your preferred platform, i.e. PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
PlayStation Plus/Xbox Game Pass membership is also required if you are playing on a console. Lastly, make sure you have cross-play enabled if one of the players is on PC and another is on console. This can be turned on through in-game settings on PlayStation and Microsoft account settings on Xbox.
With these things out of the way, here is how you can start playing Split Fiction online with friends:
- Launch Split Fiction game on your device.
- Select Play Online from the main menu options.
- Choose Steam servers option to host the game if your friend is playing via Steam. For all other platforms, go with the EA servers option.
- Both of you will need an EA account to proceed. Create a new account if you do not have one already.
- Search for your friend’s username and send an invite.
- Your friend needs to accept the invite to begin the gaming session.
If you have not purchased the game yet but want to experience it first, both players will need to download and install Split Fiction Friend’s Pass. The whole process of connecting and playing with a friend is the same as explained above.
The free demo will let you play the first two levels of the game for free. Your progress will carry over to the full game when you make the purchase.
