Earlier this week, we teased what was shaping up to be India's most unexpected gaming moment — and now, it's official: Tanupreet and Jaspreet, the couple who met inside BGMI, just got married in-game, turning Krafton's battlegrounds into a full-blown baraat.
And it wasn't just a cutscene — it was a full-blown, three-day digital wedding. From virtual Mehendi and Sangeet to the Grand Shaadi, the celebration had it all — including custom BGMI-themed outfits by Ritu Beri, a live in-game performance by Benny Dayal, and virtual cameos by stars like Karan Johar and Neeraj Chopra, both hilariously asking, "Mera invite kahan hai?"
The Shaadi also lit up social media, with creators like Mortal, Scout, Mamba, and Kashvi joining the celebration, along with influencers like Tanmay Bhat and Meethika Dwivedi, all cheering on the couple's journey from match-making to matchmaking.
To take the celebrations global, BGMI has launched the ‘Shaadi Duo' in-game event, where players can team up, complete Classic matches, and unlock a limited-edition Space Gift Box. Inspired by the couple's real Synergy journey — from strangers to in-game "Lovers" — the event is open to all duos, not just romantic ones.
From virtual pheras to real-life emotions, this isn't just a game update. It's a cultural moment — one that proves love, like Chicken Dinners, is better when you win together.
A Virtual Celebration of Love
The three-day virtual wedding festivities included a Mehendi on April 8, a Sangeet on April 9 featuring a performance by singer Benny Dayal, and culminated in a Grand Shaadi on April 11. The couple, known in-game as OnFire X Hades and OnFire X Veronica, donned BGMI-themed wedding outfits designed by fashion icon Ritu Beri.
Star-Studded Festivities
The event garnered attention from various celebrities and influencers. Bollywood director Karan Johar and Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra shared humorous posts expressing their ‘FOMO’ over not being invited. Gaming personalities like Mortal, Scout, Mamba, and Kashvi, along with influencers such as Tanmay Bhat and Purav Jha, also participated in the celebrations.
