Sony has shared new Death Stranding 2: On the Beach gameplay details on its official PlayStation Blog. It gives eagerly waiting fans a good idea of what to expect from Hideo Kojima’s next big launch next month. The company has also taken wraps off a new Death Stranding 2 Limited Edition DualSense controller to celebrate the game’s launch.
Death Stranding 2 Gameplay: What’s New
The post reveals that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will introduce several new gameplay mechanics. The much-awaited sequel will have its story kicking off 11 months after the events of Death Stranding (2019). The game will take players and Sam Bridges to new locations, starting with Mexico. This is where Bridges will “get caught up in an incident” that will take him Down Under, Australia.
The sequel also features new weapons, enemies, and transport options. The game has environmental hazards like earthquakes or flooded rivers after heavy rain. Players will need to adapt accordingly. Hideo Kojima has introduced a day and night cycle so that players can play with different strategies.
Sam Bridges’ stats and abilities will improve depending on your gameplay. For example, if you move through rough terrains a lot, then Sam’s ability to travel through these terrains will improve faster. It means you can focus on doing those activities a lot more that help you reach your preferred build faster.
The post adds that Death Stranding 2‘s story moves ahead at a fast pace as compared to the previous game. Its title menu has a dedicated section for going through a quick recap of what happened before the sequel. It is beneficial for new players or anyone who wants to get a reminder of the story so far. It also has a new Corpus feature to help new players get familiar with the game’s terminology.
