EA Sports has confirmed the release of its next-gen football simulation game EA Sports FC 25 aka EA FC 25. It is currently busy hyping the new features and changes that will arrive with the new release. One major change is the introduction of a new 5v5 mode called Rush. It will replace the currently available Volta mode in EA’s football games. Here is everything you need to know about the new mode.

EA Sports FC 25 Rush Mode: What’s New?

EA has described the new Rush mode in EA FC 25 as a “small side 5v5 social football experience.” It will have the same gameplay mechanics and feel as a standard 11v11 match but with a few tweaks here and there. The biggest difference is that Rush mode is a fast-paced, small-sided football match which also explains the name.

A Rush mode team has five players featuring four human-controlled players and one AI-controlled goalkeeper. The good thing is that even if a human-controlled player gets disconnected after the match has begun, the AI will take control of it so that the match continues without interruption. Despite goalkeepers being AI-controlled, team captains can perform actions like rushing and moving the goalkeeper.

Rush will also have a unique kick-off style called Race to Ball. There are two ball launchers on the opposite sides of the halfway line. One of these launchers will eject the football at a varying pace and height. Players from both teams will race towards the ball to see who can win and the match will begin.

A Rush match will last for seven minutes without any half-time. The clock will be paused when the football is out of play. If the scores are tied, there will be a Golden Goal Extra Time for 2:20 minutes. It will be followed by a 1-on-1 Penalty Shootout if the match remains tied.

The Offside rule has also been tweaked for Rush. Offsides will be considered only in the final attacking third instead of the usual opponent’s half. There are new dotted lines placed at one-third of the pitch’s length on each side. These are called offside lines and only when a player crosses these lines, regular offside rules will be applied.

Not Offside in Rush

Lastly, Rush in EA Sports FC 25 will have Blue cards instead of Red ones. A player will be sent to the sidelines for 1 minute after receiving a Blue card. The timer will pause for out-of-play moments and reduce by 15 seconds whenever a goal is conceded. Receiving two Yellow cards will result in a Blue card and the count will reset after the Blue card is received. EA says goalkeepers will be exempted from receiving Blue or Yellow cards.

A team is required to have at least two outfield players on the pitch. It means if a team receives its third Blue card while two players are still on the sidelines, they will have to forfeit the match.

Rush in Different EA Sports FC 25 Game Modes

Players can enjoy Rush matches across different modes like Kick Off, Ultimate Team, Career, and Clubs.

EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team Rush

In Ultimate Team, players can use their favourite Player items to create a unique 5-player Rush squad. They can then play matches against their friends to earn rewards. EA says all rewards earned through Rush can also be applied to the traditional 11v11 Ultimate Team experience.

EA Sports FC 25 Career Mode Rush

Rush has been integrated with the EA Sports FC 25 Career mode. It will help players develop their Youth Academy while managing clubs. They can do so by participating in youth tournaments featuring 5v5 Rush matches.

EA Sports FC 25 Clubs Rush

Players can earn Victory Points by winning matches through Rush mode within Clubs. It will also help them improve their individual Rush rank so that they can claim better rewards at the end of a season.
