While fans anxiously await news about GTA 6, Rockstar Games continues to remain silent despite its parent company, Take-Two, suggesting a fall 2025 release. Instead of sharing updates on the highly anticipated sequel, Rockstar has announced a free GTA 5 PC update, which brings features previously exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online.

GTA 5 Free PC Update to Bring PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Features: Here is What’s New

Scheduled for release on March 4, 2025, the update will be free for existing GTA 5 PC owners. It introduces a host of new features, including enhanced graphics options, faster loading times, and kernel-level anti-cheat protection with proactive voice chat moderation. Players will also be able to seamlessly transfer their Story Mode and Online progress to the upgraded version.

PC players will gain access to several GTA Online enhancements previously limited to the latest consoles. These include new vehicles and performance upgrades at Hao’s Special Works (HSW), Ambient Animal encounters for the Wildlife Photography Challenge, and the option to purchase a GTA+ Membership. The membership offers exclusive benefits such as a GTA$500,000 monthly bonus, special Shark Cards with a 15% GTA$ bonus, and access to The Vinewood Club for unique vehicles, clothing items, and events.

Additional updates include a Career Progress feature to track criminal achievements, a refreshed Landing Page for quick access to the game, and a streamlined introductory flow for new players, complete with a GTA$4,000,000 windfall to kickstart their criminal empire as an Executive, Gunrunner, Nightclub Owner, or Biker.

On the technical side, the upgraded version includes PC-exclusive ray tracing features such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, support for AMD FSR1, FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3, as well as enhanced resolutions, aspect ratios, and framerates. It also introduces DualSense controller support with adaptive triggers and improved audio with Dolby Atmos.

Rockstar has confirmed that the original version of GTA Online on PC will continue to be supported for players who cannot meet the requirements for the upgraded version. However, the original version will operate as a separate instance, meaning players on the upgraded version won’t be able to play with those on the original.
