MSI has confirmed the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus handheld gaming console at the Computex 2024 event. The brand has also confirmed the Claw Fallout Limited Edition at the event. The Claw 8 AI Plus will replace the MSI Claw handheld gaming console launched at CES 2024.
What We Know So Far About MSI Claw 8 AI Plus
MSI has confirmed that the Claw 8 AI Plus will be the first to be powered by the Intel Lunar Lake chipset, which is known to be popular under Intel Core Ultra monikers. The exact details are yet to be confirmed.
The Intel Lunar Lake chipset is said to offer at least 50% better performance compared to the Intel Meteor Lake chipset. A report from Digital Trends claims that the Claw 8 AI Plus will be available with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD. MSI aims to compete with the recently announced ASUS ROG Ally X handheld gaming console.
The latest handheld gaming console will sport an 8-inch display, which will be bigger than the 7-inch IPS panel with FHD resolution on the original MSI Claw. The Claw AI 8 Plus is rumoured to sport extra two Thunderbolt ports with redesigned triggers and an external shell.
MSI will also equip the upcoming handheld gaming console with a larger 80Wh battery. The brand adds that the Claw AI 8 Plus will be available, starting September. The company confirms that one month of Xbox Game Pass will be provided with the Claw 8 AI Plus.
The Fallout Limited Edition of the MSI Claw will continue to be equipped with the older Intel Meteor Lake chipset. MSI will equip the limited edition with a rusted front panel. The Fallout Limited Edition of the original MSI Claw handheld is also said to debut with a larger battery capacity. The other specifications of the gaming console will be similar to those of the standard variant.
