- The Welcome Hub on PS5 lets users choose from different widgets and backgrounds.
- Party Share will let users share party voice chat links on messaging and social media apps.
Sony has released a new PlayStation 5 (PS5) system update featuring a customisable Welcome Hub. It also adds the ability to share party links with others via social media and messaging apps. This functionality will soon become available on the official PlayStation app. Here is everything you need to know about the new features.
PlayStation 5 Welcome Hub
Welcome Hub is a new dedicated customisable space for PlayStation 5 users. It supports various widgets for accessing quick information. These widgets can be used to check online friends, trophies count, accessory batteries, console storage, PS Store, wishlist, and more. The hub has layout presets and each widget can be resized and rearranged manually.
PS5 Welcome Hub further supports changing backgrounds. Sony says there are various background options including designs and animations. Users can even set screenshots from the Media Gallery as the background.
Welcome Hub rollout is currently limited to the United States. The feature will gradually expand to Japan, select European countries, and worldwide.
PlayStation 5 Party Share
PlayStation 5 users can now share party voice chat links with others on social media and messaging apps. It can be used to invite people who are not your PlayStation friends. The link can be shared from the voice chat card in the Control Center. Choose Invite Players > Share Party Link to generate a scannable QR code.
Others can join your party voice chat through their PS5 console or the official PS app. Sony says it will soon update the application to allow users to generate shareable links directly from the mobile.
New PS5 Beta Features
Apart from the stable system update, Sony has shared new PS5 beta features for beta testers. It is now possible for PS5 players to create a personalised 3D audio profile for an immersive audio experience. The profile can be created for your headphones or earbuds through the 3D Audio settings.
Sony is adding the ability to enable Remote Play for individual users. It can be done from Settings > System > Remote Play > Enable Remote Play. Users can enable or disable Remote Play for each added member.
Lastly, adaptive charging support for controllers is now available for PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro consoles. This feature will support DualSense, DualSense Edge, and PS VR2 Sense controllers.
