Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Release Timeline Confirmed
The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake teaser does not show anything except a lit candle. The 30-second teaser wraps up by revealing the title is expected to arrive in 2026. While it is unfortunate there are no additional details, it is good to know the team is actively working on the project and has not scrapped it completely.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake was first announced by Ubisoft in 2020. It is now close to four years but the game is nowhere to be seen, thanks to various difficulties in the development process. The remake was initially under development at Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Pune studios.
It was supposed to be released in January 2021 but has been facing repetitive delays. The project was eventually handed over to Ubisoft Montreal in May 2022. It is the same studio that worked on the original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and is also known for working on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Far Cry games.
The remake project passed an “important internal milestone” in November 2023. Months later, we have a new release timeline, which is still way ahead in the future. While the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake might still face more delays, it is good to know the development is in progress. Ubisoft says the game has entered its final production phase and Montreal studio is receiving support from co-dev studios in Toronto, Bucharest, Paris, and Pune.
