Rocksteady Studios has announced that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, its live-service looter-shooter launched in February 2023, will receive its final update in January 2025, ending all future content updates. The game, once touted as Warner Bros.’ next big title, struggled to meet expectations and faced significant criticism since its launch. Here are the details.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will no Longer Receive support after Season 4 Episode 8
As announced on the official blog post, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will not receive new content following the release of Season 4, Episode 8, set to launch on January 14, 2025. Despite this, the developers revealed that the final update would include the much-anticipated offline mode and introduce Deathstroke as a playable character.
The game will no longer receive updates after Episode 8 launches in January 2025. However, players can access all previously released seasonal content, including everything up to Episode 8. With the introduction of an offline mode, players can enjoy the main story and seasonal missions without requiring an internet connection. Additionally, co-op gameplay with friends will remain available.
Rocksteady has confirmed the game and its in-game store will continue to function after the final update. Players can still purchase items, use LutherCoin currency, and even buy the game beyond January 2025. However, the developers have not specified how long the game’s online features will remain active.
While this may disappoint gamers who have invested in the game, it is not surprising news seeing the game’s mixed reception at its launch and poor performance in the following months. These issues contributed to Warner Bros. Discovery incurring a $200 million loss on the title, with reports of the game’s challenges surfacing even before the announcement to end its support.
The game’s struggles also highlight the broader challenges faced by live-service titles in a saturated market. Similar to Concord and XDefiant, which also faced closures this year, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League struggled to find its footing despite its potential and Rocksteady’s strong reputation.
