2022 has been an exceptionally strong year for gaming with games like Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West being in strong contention for Game of the Year. Alongside massive AAA hits are also a number of a smaller budget, indie titles that have made quite the impact, such as Sifu and Tunic.
The year is far from over as there are plenty of major titles headed for release later during the year, including God of War Ragnarok. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the year shapes up and what the nominees at this year’s The Game Awards look like.
A major portion of the gaming community tends to look at The Game Awards as the new E3 as the show tends to feature a large number of game trailers and announcements. With E3 set to return next year as an in-person event, it will be interesting to see the kind of numbers both The Game Awards and E3 pull in.
