Microsoft has announced a new lineup of transparent Cipher Series top cases, along with some chromatic D-pads and paddles for its Elite Series 2 controllers. The company has also introduced the Ghost Cipher Special Edition Xbox Wireless Controller, which features grey and bronze accents, revealing the inner components of the controller. New Transparent Top Cases in Xbox Design Lab
Microsoft has added six new transparent designs to the Xbox Design Lab, especially for the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. This collection of cases allows users to relive the magic of seeing the inner workings of the controller, all while adding a sleek, modern twist. Xbox users can now customize their Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (through Xbox Design Lab) with several transparent top cases. The new translucent faceplate options under the Cipher series are available in six colours. There’s Ghost Cipher (white), Velocity Cipher (Xbox green), Astral Cipher (purple), Surf Cipher (blue), Candy Cipher (pink), and Pulse Cipher (Red).
Moreover, users can also customize their controller further by adding extra thumbsticks, D-pads, paddles, and complimentary 3D printable files.
While it’s great to see Xbox expanding its customization options, users should know that these transparent cases are significantly more expensive than the standard controller. The Cipher Series Top Cases add an extra $9.99 to the base price of $149.99, and this is before any other customizations are added.
The Cipher Series for the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Chromatic D-pad and paddle designs are now available in select Xbox markets.
Xbox Ghost Cipher Controller
Joining the previously announced Sky Cipher Special Edition, the new Ghost Cipher Controller features a transparent clear top case that reveals its silver internals. This special edition features a metallic bronze D-pad and triggers, grey buttons, and rubberized ash grey back grips.
Priced at $69.99, the Ghost Cipher controller is available for pre-order now and will officially launch on October 8, 2024.
