The Gionee Max Pro has been launched in India, marking a new smartphone from the once-mainstream Chinese OEM. No longer a manufacturer with a major market share, its latest smartphone, the Gionee Max Pro, offers a large screen and a large battery in the sub-Rs 10,000 price segment in India. It is also one of the brand’s first launches after a considerable hiatus, particularly considering the frequency of launches that most mainstream Chinese OEMs launch devices at in recent times.

Gionee Max Pro price, availability

The Gionee Max Pro is priced at Rs 6,999, and will be available in only one variant. The smartphone will be available via Flipkart, and will be available for purchase from next week, March 8 onward. Buyers will get three colour variants to choose from – Blue, Black and Red.

Gionee Max Pro key specifications

The Gionee Max Pro features a 6.52-inch HD+ display, and has a 2.5D curved glass on top for aesthetics and screen protection. Its headlining feature is its 6,000mAh battery, which supports reverse charging but does not specify any fast charging standard. It uses a microUSB port for connectivity and charging, which is increasingly uncommon – even in the budget segment.

The smartphone is powered by a Unisoc 9863A SoC, which is based on the 28nm manufacturing process and is therefore of a much older generation. The chipset uses eight Cortex-A55 cores, and this setup uses 3GB RAM and 32GB native storage. In the camera department, it features a 13MP dual rear camera setup with a 2MP secondary bokeh camera for portrait shots. To the front, it features an 8MP selfie camera.

The Gionee Max Pro features 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2 and a 3.5mm audio port. The smartphone measures 10mm in thickness and weighs 212g, hence being on the bulkier side of the scale.
