Google Assistant Will Help Book Vaccines on CoWin From 2022

The feature will be available in eight Indian languages.

Google has made several new announcements at the Google for India 2021 event. The company has announced bill split and Hinglish support for the Google Pay app and several certification programs. At the same event, Google has announced a handy new feature that will help people book vaccination slots. Soon, Google will roll out an update that will allow users to book vaccination on CoWin using Google Assistant. This is also the first-ever Google Assistant-enabled, end-to-end vaccine booking flow in India.

The new feature for Google Assistant will be rolled out in early 2022 and will be available in multiple languages including English and eight Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. Google has worked closely with CoWin to enable this integration.

To get started with this feature, all you need to do is search “covid vaccine” on Google search and then click on “Register easily with Google Assistant.” Once you select the option, Google Assistant will be prompted on the screen to guide you to book a vaccination slot. Once you select the preferred language, Google Assistant will ask a few questions that are needed to book a slot on the CoWin platform.

The Assistant will ask for the member’s name, Aadhar card number,  date of birth. Once these are entered, you can select a vaccination slot by entering Pin Code or selecting the district. The next screen will show all the available slots for the vaccination slot. You can use filters like age, vaccine, and cost. Once this is done, you can select a preferred date and time to confirm your booking.

This feature is targeted at those who are unfamiliar with using a smartphone or who are unable to read as Google Assistant will guide them to book a slot. Users will receive voice guidance at each step while booking a vaccination appointment on the CoWin website.
